Really impressive car.

I'm very impressed with the Vitara. I bought it to replace a 1.6 Diesel Altea Ecomotive and it is the first petrol car I have owned since 1988, in fact I've hardly driven a petrol car since then. I wanted the 16 inch wheels on the Vitara for comfort and cost, wanted Bluetooth without paying for a Parrott, safety, cruise control and the upright driving position, all at a low price. The standard specification Vitara has delivered these requirements really well. It's not the fastest on 0-60 but that's not an issue, cruises happily on motorways at an indicated 70, 66 MPH according to my Garmin and is very economical. The fuel read out says 52.2 MPG usually which has worked out at 50.8 MPG on a brim to brim calculation. It's roomy for four and their luggage and very comfortable.
The 12000 mile service was carried out at a good price by the local main dealer. One thing that's not mentioned in the manual is that the orange service light is an oil condition indicator which was a bit of a worry on a Saturday afternoon far from home.
Downsides? Having to pay for a space saver spare wheel and the faff of having to get Suzuki UK to supply it because the dealer reckoned it was on a long back order. And the question of, do I run on ECO or comfort on the tyre pressures? So far I've used ECO settings and it has been fine. An excellent car.
