Overall reliability

b***** fantastic - everything I wanted and probably more.

this is my first subaru, I came from a BMW 130, wife has a new VW touareg. This is not as fast as either but more competent than both.

the good:
Surprisingly good to drive. Corners quite well, good on motorways, comfortable seat (full leather).
Really, really, really good in the wet
Great in town. Narrow, easy to place, nippy, easy to park
Fantastic on s***ty roads. Handles potholes and dodgy surfaces brilliantly
Can regularly get over 50mpg on a-road trips

the bad:
the plastics in the cabin are a bit hit & miss. It's well put together, some are just poor quality.
the satnav/ radio is b***** complicated to use. It's quite good, just a really clunky interface.
the boot doesn't open quite far enough - I'm 6'2" and smack my head off it when it's open
the steering is very light. Not really a problem, just takes some getting used to.
there is quite a bit of wind noise at quick motorway speeds
the gear ratios in 3/4/5/6th are really tall - I leave it in 3rd till I get to about 40mph.

The dealership was / is brilliant too - friendly, trusting and keen to please.
