Car is impressive but Peugeot UK are disappointing

This car is very impressive, build quality is as good as our Audi Q3. The quality of the plastics is not quite as good but in every other respect its comparable.

The 1.2 petrol engine is very good, I live in an area with no motorways or dual carriageways and have only noticed it struggling on a long motorway journey when pushed above 80mph where it runs out of steam. In the urban environment or on rural roads its more than adequate.

The car is very quiet with no knocks or rattles, the engine is also quiet but has a throaty bark if pushed, not obtrusive though.

Its a very comfortable car, I have the optional grip control which comes with larger section tyres, this gives the car a much quieter and more comfortable ride than the demonstrator I drove which had low profiles. Interior accommodation is good with plenty of room and storage, boot is cavernous. The touch screen takes a bit of getting used to but once mastered its intuitive and lends itself to the over all style of the interior, its the same with the small square section steering wheel.

The auto box is the smoothest I have every used. I also run an automatic Audi Q3 and the Peugeot box is much smoother on changes and when pulling away.

Fuel economy is around 32, predominantly town driving. On a run I can get 48.

My only gripe is with the Sat Nav system which is advertised as having free lifetime updates. The live services are charged for as an extra. This includes camera data. However unless you want to log onto the Peugeot France website (in French) and download the map updates and firmware updates (in French) no updates are available for UK registered cars. I have been advised by Peugeot that using the French sourced updates could invalidate the warranty, even though they are the same file. The system of getting the updates is integrated with the cars online system via the built in sim and a Peugeot account, but it has never worked. The French site shows my maps and firmware are three versions out of date. Peugeot promised it would be live by December 17 but all 3008 UK owners are still waiting.

So my three year subscription to live services is useless when coupled with maps that are so out of date.

Very frustrating and sours the experience of what is a very good and competent vehicle.
