Everything you need and more.

I have driven various sports cars for many years, eg Audi TTRS, Mercedes A45AMG but, approaching my 7th decade, I felt the need for a gentler vibe. We had an old RAV 4 as a shopping car and driving it was my guilty pleasure although it’s lack of acceleration on the short Aroad sliproads near me was a concern.

All the above cars are 4wd, which I like because we live on a steep country road, with an adverse camber turn into the house. I collected the X1 during last year’s “beast from the east” so was immediately able to test it’s 4wd. Excellent on tarmac and extremely reassuring. I also like the torque converter auto.

The X1 provides comfort, a relaxed drive, plenty of space for sailing and sports gear, yet reasonable mid range acceleration. It is plenty fast enough at road legal speeds on today’s crowded roads. As others have said the idrive and BMW ConnectedDrive are awesome and, overall, I like this car much more than I thought I would.

A year on, I remain extremely satisfied and have found no faults to report so far.
