I don't feel connected to the road.

Bought the car in June 16. Previous car 3 series tourer 320d. Which was due for a change after 10 years of unblemished service. I wanted a car which with a slightly higher floor plan for ease of entry. I looked at the 2 Active which didn't really excite me. Nor did any of the competitors. So I decided on the X1 which is slightly larger than we really need.
I didn't want another diesel, so it some time to find a X1 petrol preregistered very few available within 50 miles.
We have made several long runs to west Wales in the last few months, which were very comfortable.
The cabin is spacious but the boot is a joke, you get two soft bags in and that's it. The tourer was much better.
On the long runs of about 204 miles on mainly motorway and dual carriageways it was returning just under 40 mpg. Around town about 32mpg.
Regarding my first line, when I am driving I feel disconnected to the road. Even after year of driving it.
I drove my wife's mini about two months ago, and I enjoyed the drive, that was when I realised what was missing from the X1.
The brakes are extremely sharp, especially at low speeds when you virtually stop on a sixpence.
It's an ok car, it could just be me, this being my first SUV.
