Superb - except for the stop/start

This is the best car I have ever owned. The engine and gearbox are silky smooth. It’s comfortable and roomy, although the are so many ways to adjust the front seats that it’s not easy to get the perfect position. Build quality and materials are exceptional.
But..... the stop start system is atrocious. Every time I start the engine I have to remember to hit the small switch to turn the stupid system off. Imagine being in a mile long traffic queue inching forwards a couple of car lengths at a time - the engine could switch off and restart 100 times just on that one short length of road. The most annoying thing about it is that it doesn’t even give me time to stop at any junction to check if the road is clear or when I stop outside my house and reverse onto the drive. The moment the car is stationary so I can move the selector from D to R it stops the engine and then starts it immediately. This cannot be good for the engine which is already being asked to go 18000 miles between oil changes.
I wonder if BMW dealers can switch this off permanently.
I still love the car though!
