Can a blocked DPF cause cam belt failure?

I own a 2010 Ford Fiesta 1.6 diesel with 101,000 miles. Recently the cam belt failed. The car is back with the dealer who tell me that the DPF is blocked, which caused the cam belt failure. Is this likely?
