  • Isuzu D max Utah - Dreaded DPF 16 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Hi all I am new to the forum and would be interested to hear peoples opinion of my dilemma. I recently bought a 2016 Isuzu D max utah from an Isuzu dealer. 2 months and 2000 miles down the line the engine is regenerating every 5 or 6 miles. I appreciate I am using the vehicle as a farm truck and it spends a fair bit of time "pottering" about but I do take it for a good long clear out along the dual carriageway at least once a week and always let regens complete.
  • Will a pick-up's DPF be okay with mostly short trips? 15 May 2020 (Ask HJ)

  • N/A - Electric scooters 21 Feb 2021 (Forum)
It is reported today that Electric scooters may be allowed on roads with perhaps a max speed of 16mph quoted.  Presumably these silent machines will also find their way onto pavements and cycle paths.   Do the things even have brakes let alone insurance?  This sounds like a very bad idea to me from both a motorist and pedestrian perspective!

  • Cheaper used cars - I don't think so. 30 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Had a trawl through Forddirect and Autotrader websites for a newish Focus/C-Max. They are anything up to 17k with most around 15k. I'm sure similar age cars were going for nearer £12k a year ago. Seems to me prices have gone up, not down.

  • BCA blue and silver cards 22 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I am new to the site, but am looking to take out either a blue or silver BCA card. I will only be buying about six cars a year max. Will either of these cards gain me any advantage, or cost saving in terms of buyers premium etc? Any advice would be most welcome.

  • Colt Test Drive 15 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I am very disappointed that my request for a 'proper' test drive was refused, so we will be limited to a max round trip of about 6 miles, on roads which will give us no opportunity of driving legally at 70 mph. The staff have, apparently, no discretion on this matter.
  • Lexus GS 300 30 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Like a good boy I've read the CbyC, the comments on the owners club site and the thread from Dec 03 on this, just wondering if anyone has any recent experience. I'd be looking to spend max £12k which puts me in Y/51 plate territory before haggling.
  • Mercedes Benz S-Class W220 (1999 - 2005) - Comments on older S class 6 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Im looking at an older 2002 S -class 280 petrol (newer shape). It has 164k miles on the clock and its priced at £3500. The car is in pretty good condition for the age and there are no signs of rust. Are these engines good for a high mileage?
  • Can I import a car to Thailand when I move there next year? 6 Feb 2012 (Ask HJ)

  • Just for fun II 1 Mar 2020 (Forum)
They’ve a real passion for cars with the sweet Mk I MX5, storming final RX7 Turbo and quirky Xedos from the late 80’s into the 90’s and the later post Ford era range, all of which are a pleasure to own as long as you avoid the diesels which for some reason Mazda just can’t get right. No the firm I’d pick is Peugeot.
  • 09 Ford Focus estate 1.6 TDCi Zetec 109bhp - Intermittent engine stutter 31 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Bought this car just over a year ago, 1 previous company driver, little over 80k at the time with full Ford service history, showing average MPG of just under 50mpg back then. I managed to get that up to around 52mpg for quite a while, had it seviced (independent garage belonging to a friend) in line with stated schedule (Air filter looked like the one fitted by the factory when it was removed, go Ford dealers) and the mpg improved a little more to around 54mpg.

Ford wanted £90 for this so Im just looking to save a bit of money. Im not even considering the unbranded ones on Ebay for £15.99!
