  Went to hire a rof box for our hols today. The S-max has fixed points under covers on the roof.  All going well until, when tightening the bolt holding the rack to the roof, the guy fitting it sheared the bolt flush with the hole. He drilled down the broken stud but it did not fully remove and the bar is now held firmly with a self tapping screw into the hole left by drilling I'm fine for my hols.

In the S-Max, the 2.0 diesel would suffice but I would really like the 2.2 for a bit more shove especially towing.   Following a good discussion on this forum, I went for a Ford SMax last year, and spent £9k on a 2007 2.5T from a main dealer.  I've been really happy with the car. I've since put it in for a service to a different (more local) main dealer, and they have found £2k worth of work.

  This sound appears to be coming from the front centre of the car. My guess is it is coming from a pump. Local Ford dealer says its ?normal?. I?ve not heard this noise in several other recent Ford 2.0 TDCI Mondeo?s, Galaxy?s or Smax?s. My concern is that this is an early warning of a potential failure of a critical item.
