Does this sound like a scam?

I followed up a Gumtree ad for a Ford S-Max (2010 reg) with low mileage in Watford which sounded like a good deal. I heard nothing initially but then received an answer explaining that the car was no longer in Watford but in Northern Ireland and that the seller had dropped the price.

He has now emailed me twice offering to drive the car to London for me and the AA to inspect it, and to show me the service history, which he assures me is all up to date and complete.

My question is, does this sound like a scam? Is there something I should be looking out for? I can't understand why he would be willing to drive the car all the way to Northern Ireland when he's not even guaranteed a sale at the end of it.

Sounds weird and if it sounds weird it probably is. Plenty of other S-Max for sale.
