Anti misfuel devices. 20 May 2010 (Forum)
I have driven Diesel cars for 20 years, and not misfueled yet, (or even picked up the wrong pump nozzle). As I am about to retire, (again), and recieve my state pension, will my brain instantly turn to mashed potato, and if so which misfuel device should I fit? -

Misfuelling insurance 12 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Caught the tail end of a discusion on the wireless tonight, apparantly you can now get insurance against misfuelling. Wouldn't bother myself, but in view of the cost involved with modern diesel engines perhaps it isn't a bad idea if you are of an absent minded nature. Anyone else heard of it? -
Misfuelling- a little prompt 23 Jun 2009 (Forum)
The word "petrol" might pop the mental bubble they filled up with. It won't stop misfuelling, but it could prevent hefty bills if the vehicle is started. Changing nozzles and fillers will take ages. -

Poll, would you buy used common rail? (Misfueling) 7 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Poll, Would you buy a used common rail diesel, with reference to misfueling concerns? Suggest a YES/NO at the top of any replies to make counting easier. (Credit for this thread to Gordonbennet, who suggested it in my cooking oil thread.) Oh, heres the link, which perhaps just shows the very tip of the iceberg. -
Diesel versus petrol - misfuelling 28 Jun 2007 (Forum)
While I am really attracted by the better mpg and more accessible torque of diesel over petrol, I am concerned about various comments I have seen on here and elsewhere regarding long term reliability / cost of maintaining diesels and, in particular, the danger of putting petrol into a diesel car. If the car I buy has been previously misfuelled, is it likely that any damage will have become immediately obvious, and therefore repairs done in the past? Or could the damage from previous misfuelling have been less obvious, so that repairs weren't necessary, potentially meaning I will have a large bill later in the car's life? -
Toyota Hiace - Misfuelling prevention device 8 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Does anyone know of any alternatives? I am only interested in those which actually prevent misfuelling. No warning devices. -
Ford Focus - Misfuelled Ford Focus TDCi 16 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I've been a muppet and misfuelled my focus. I realised after about a mile when the engine was juddery, but still going, just. I had it towed and the tank drained. I then read on tinternet how much it could cost and panicked and called my insurance company. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - Misfuelled car-would you buy? 12 May 2009 (Forum)
I've now managed to obtain the service record from the previous owner (fleet operator) of the 55 plate Focus 1.6 TDCi which I've put a deposit on with a nearby trader who must have picked it up at auction. Turns out it was misfuelled (petrol instead of diesel) on 2 occassions at 9K and 11K. On both occassions the tank was drained and filters replaced. The car's now done 43K and is running very sweetly. Would this knowledge be enough for anyone here to ask for their deposit back and walk away from the car? -
GOLF TDI Bluemotion - Misfuel 3 Dec 2015 (Forum)

Second hand diesels - misfuelled? 27 Oct 2010 (Forum)
If an engine had been started (or attempted to) with petrol in it, is it a dead cert that the engine is on the way out? If there are tens of thousands misfuels each year, does that mean that there are tens of thousands of used diesel on the market waiting to cause the new owner endless grief? It just seems a bit excessive to buy new solely on the ground to ensure it has had the right fuel. -
