Vauxhall Combo van 05 plate - Electrical issues 7 Apr 2023 (Forum)
Installed repaired cluster last week and initially all OK. A couple of days later, noticed that the centre console/radio control panel was illuminated when the ignition was off/key out. When radio is switched on manually or ignition is on/engine running, lights go out. Experimented today, and also found when ignition on first stage, switching the headlights on also switches the radio on! -
Ford Focus - Battery still draining on ford focus 2004 22 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Radio reconnected with new fuse and was working fine for around one week. Not been started for a few days over Xmas and back to square one. It's had two new batteries in past 12 months and alternator testing fine. -
Renault Espace (1997 - 2002) - 00 - electronic dash issues 19 Oct 2008 (Forum)
But I don't particularly want to go to a Renault dealer and be told I need to shell out a four-figure sum on a new dash and radio. Any ideas what's up / where to start? Needless to say I've tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours, to no avail. TIA James -
Peugeot 405 Battery Drain....or not ? 20 Feb 2006 (Forum)
S I disconnected the battery for two days to remove the drain, and of course the car started up Then, another guy told me that half an amp is normal, as the clock and radio memory use that much when the car is sitting. Just seems like a lot of current to me for a clock and a memory on a radio......Leave the interior or side lights on (I think a 25 W bulb is about half an amp) and you'd expect your battery to take a tumble afeter a couple of days. -
Does your RDS TA radio annoy you? 5 Dec 2005 (Forum)
As soon as I tune back into FM - it tells me to avoid the area. Also whilst I'm having a rant - how about displaying the radio station name so I can decide to turn the TA straight off if it's out of my area? Or is it a case of operator error on my behalf??? Come on Audi - you should be better than this.... Cheers -
Imports a tale of caution 31 Dec 2002 (Forum)
I have bought a few cars from them in the past and they are a good company to deal with but watch out for the warranties. When I arrived to collect the car they had lost the radio code. They took to a local audio 'specialist' who removed the stereo to recode it.( they should have faxed MB for the code or take it to the merc dealer which is 500 yards from Motorpoint) The new Mercs having tons of electronics 'thinks' that the radio has been nicked and a shuts down cetain elements of the ECU. -
Hyundai ix35 - Please help! Hyundai whining 21 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Just driven my 2010 ix35 Premium 2.0 tdci with media unit. The radio suddenly died after giving a beep. There followed a loud whine like the old TV testcard which hasn't stopped, even with the radio and engine off. It's currently in a city centre multi-storey car park and people are actually looking around to see where the noise is coming from! -
Vauxhall CDR500 CD player problem 18 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I have another vauxhall with the same unit and have established that the removeable front panel on the radio is actually coded to the radio unit itself. All this means that my CDR500 was supplied with the front panel from another unit !!. Can anyone tell me if this system can be re-coded to recognise this diferent panel ? -
Jaguar x Type - in car phone is missing 13 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Hi, I just bought a 51 reg Jaguar X Type saloon , It has a phone cradle mounted on the centre console ,next to the radio. There is a permanantly connected cable going into the bottom of the phone cradle and it then disappears behind the console trim , presumably into the radio/audio system, also at the bottom of the phone cradle there are 2 brass connection pins sticking up, one is a long one and the other is a shorter one. however whatever phone was originally fitted,is sadly no longer there, do you know what phone might have been installed originally? -
Mazda MX5 Mk2 1999 - Draining Battery 1 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Our MX5 fails to start after a couple of days if it hasn't been driven. It appears as if something is draining the battery. We did have a faulty radio that would sometimes not switch off and I disconnected the radio hoping this was the problem but the problem still exists. I have tried 2 different batteries but still had the same problem. I have checked the power coming into the battery when the engine is running and I get over 14 volts. -
Vauxhall Corsa C - Stereo issues 29 May 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I have a problem with my Corsa that I recently bought second hand. It has had a non-manufacturers radio installed and from taking it out it looks like quite a poor job has been done of installing it. The main problem is that the radio will not turn on or off with the ignition. It will turn on manually but that means you must remember every time you leave the car to switch it off. -
Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 04 2.0 Speed Limiter Fault affecting Airbag and Ra 26 Jul 2008 (Forum)
In the past week, whenever I turn right, but particularly on a roundabout, the centre display cuts in and out, the radio cuts in and out and on one occasion the Airbag warning light and the service light illuminated and the fault message stated there was a fault with the speed limiter??? It reset itself and I haven't had a full reoccurance of the fault since, but the center display and radio still cut out when I turn right?? -
Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - 2002 Installing a CD changer 15 Feb 2008 (Forum)
All should be ok in fixing the changer to the boot floor and I have the connecting cable to run to the front of the car under the carpets & plastic trim etc. The problem is when I get to the radio cassette head unit and I need an interface between that and the CD cable. The radio cassette has an Aux button on and will accept a CD changer, but is there any way I can find out the type of head unit apart from removing it? -
Galaxy Trouble 29 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Initial thought were battery although this has charge and we have tried to jump start it but it behaves exactly the same. Also keeps asking for the radio code. Could this be a major electrical problem or perhaps the starter motor? any thoughts? many thanks. -
Ford Focus RDS 5000 VIN Number Storage 16 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Am I missing something simple, or is there no way to store the full VIN on the radio, making this useful security feature a waste of time? Thanks in advance. -
Vectra CD Changer problem 24 Nov 2005 (Forum)
A mate has just upgraded his CAR400 to a CCR600 + CDC2 changer. These are known good, but came from an Omega. The radio/cass works fine - but the CD Changer appears to be dead. Its a '97 Vectra GLS. The changer just plugged into a connector already in the glove box. My thought was power - does anyone know if the changer is fed from power from the radio or another fuse? -
burning wire - ford fiesta (1996) 23 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Hello, The fan in my p reg ford fiesta was stuck blowing out at level four even when it was switched off. I took the radio out to look at the wires and when I moved them (very slightly) a tiny flame appeared and I blew it out straight away. I then replaced the radio and everything seems to work fine. The fan operates normally apart from on level two (where nothing happens) level 1,3 and 4 are all fine.
