Ford Fusion (2002 - 2008) - 05 1.6 Air Conditioning 4 Jun 2009 (Forum)
This is unlike a later version Fusion (2005) which has the engine cooling fan running continuously whenever the air conditioning is switched on and at any time of the year/weather condition. The 2005 Fusion engine cooling fan normally only switches on if the weather is hot when the air conditioning is switched off. -
Diesel economy from cold 5 May 2009 (Forum)
But for my other half there is no traffic when she uses this road so the engine is still cold when running at motorway speeds. So my question is, are diesels running at motorway speeds a lot less economical than when warmed up ? Sorry for a rambling post -

Hello, When i start the engine from cold it runs fine until the auto choke knocks off, then the engine ticks over at 7000 revs then momentarily dipping down to 2000 revs and back up again, then eventually cutting out, usually at a road junction or traffic lights. -

New long term car 7 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I've just returned from living in France where I've been running an Opel Omega 2.5 diesel for the last 8 years - it's been stunningly reliable - over 300k km with only oil and filters (lots of them). I'm going to be doing something like 600 miles/week so will need something comfortable yet relatively economical. -
Ford Focus III (2008 - ) - Petrol vs. diesel 11 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Do we take the "guaranteed" savings a diesel will bring after three years, and gamble on the engine and DMF lasting well, or do we go for the simpler petrol engine and running costs without the prospect of big surprises? -

Hi all. Currently running an 03 Passat and need some advice. The cigarette socket runs on permanent live and I would like it to turn off with the ignition. I have a bluetooth speaker/handsfree kit plugged in and currently have to unplug/plug back in overnight to avoid battery drain. -
Volkswagen Bora (1999 - 2006) - 2004 1.9 oil in header tank 28 Sep 2008 (Forum)

If you look in the oil you can see its only on top and there is clean water under it also you can see the water coming back through from the engine is clean aswell.Does anyone have any idea what this could be as i am worried sick thinking that there is something drastic wrong somewhere but what i can't understand is the car is running perfect -
Volkswagen Polo (1981 - 1991) - 88 1.3 inner cv joint. How to know when its worn? 16 Jul 2008 (Forum)
got a mk2 polo that makes a woo woo noise very similar to a worn out wheel beaing( it has new w bearings) ive traced the noise to the driveshaft area on the passenger side by running the car up on stands the gearbox output flanges have some movment( ive held a bar againt the case while it was running in gear.sounded sweet enough) but the inner c.v joint has the most slop out of all the joints so my question is...what sort of noises /symtoms would a inner c.v give and how to do i detect if its worn out? -
Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 2002 2.0 problem with starting 2 Jul 2008 (Forum)
hi i have a peugeot 307 sw 2.0 hdi on a 52 plate, the problems i am having is that when you try to start the car it seems to turn over for about 10 seconds then it try's to fire up but then it just carry'ies on turning over for a further 10-20 seconds then if lucky it will fire up and run, but have also noticed that if the engine has been run and is up to normal temperature you get the same problem and it can take longer to get going, i have replaced the glowplugs and when cold you do get voltage going to the glowplugs, the engine in the car is the 110bhp. any help would be appreciated many thanks markie369 -
Honda Accord UK (1989 - 1993) - 2000 2.0 poor fuel economy 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, My mother-in-law drives the above car (2000 x-plate 2.0 vtec in sport trim), and gets appalling mpg (as a guide, it uses nearly twice as much fuel on a long trip as our 1.8 Avensis; we get about 40mpg+ on a run, she must get early 20s). Local Honda dealer has had it in & change a couple of bits (not sure exactly what), but to no avail. Any ideas as to known issues with this engine? As she does a lot of local journeys (quite a few of the family don't run cars), it's costing her a fortune. -
Old petrol disposal? 22 May 2008 (Forum)
I cannot put this in my petrol car can I? Appreciate outboards are a long way off topic but wondering if it's worth starting/attempting to run engine with this fuel? Believe it can lead to alls sorts of running problems! As a compromise i could put another 6 litres of fresh petrol into tank and give it a good mix! Any guidance appreciated Thanks Mark -
Petrol or Diesel? 26 Mar 2008 (Forum)
With the growing differential between petrol and diesel, is there any trusted formula that can decide which fuel (and running costs) will be cheaper in the long run? In my area, it is currently 8p a litre in favour of petrol. I was beginning to think about changing from petrol to diesel, but would like more hard information to make a decision. -
Driving In Snow 4 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I have only listed few things. Also advice having a tank full of fuel in case you have to have the engine running for heat. If there are several stranded then it makes sense for all to get into one car and use the fuel of one car. I case anyone complains your health well being is more important than the environment when you are sitting there stuck with the engine running -

Honda - Africa Twin XRV 750 motorbike - Lean? 17 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I recently replaced the end can of the exhaust (Think 'back box') and want to know how to tell if it's running lean. I will be checking the spark plug colour and also doing some high rpm shut downs to check the spark plug colour at various points in the rev range. But for now, are there signs if an engine is running dangerously lean? -

Kids and cabriolets 1 Jul 2007 (Forum)
And then there is the soft top/safety issue. But of course I may be wrong. Does anyone out there have any experience of running a 9-3, or indeed any other 4 seat convertible as their only car with a new baby? Views gratefully accepted -
Citroen Xsara HDI heater fan fault 14 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Vehicle: Xsara estate Hdi110. 2002, 86k miles. The heater fan on this car runs flat out, regardless of the manual setting, but only once the engine is running. After some investigation work, there appears to be a system control box, the driver control consul (containing more electronics), various temperature sensors, a flap servo and the fan unit. -
Retirement car for FiL 20 Apr 2007 (Forum)
My retired father-in-law is thinking about getting another car which will last him a good few years. New or up to two years old, three or five door, manual box, reliable, cheap to run, and corrosion-resistant (he lives by the sea). Image is of no concern nor is performance as long as it is comfortable. Lowish annual mileage so petrol rather than diesel. Mainly local pottering with a very occasional longer run.
