  • Future Classic: Vauxhall Astra VXR Nurburgring 2 Mar 2016 (News)
The Astra pleasantly surprises on the road – although steering feedback is less than you’d want from a hot hatch, there’s a lot more grip from the front tyres than I was expecting. But the suspension is too hit and miss to make this car a force to be reckoned with... in my hands, at least. At times it's perfect with the front-end firming up right when you need it to, but at other times it just feels too soft – or conversely, too crashy as the rear struggles to cope with a few bumps.

  • A Grand Monday: Ford Mondeo 31 Jul 2017 (News)
When the original Ford Mondeo made its debut almost 25 years ago, it was an overnight sensation. Here was a car that, at long last, proved that Ford could thoroughly engineer a chassis.  It was the company's first front-wheel-drive large family hatch, and the first of a generation of Fords that enjoyed class-leading handling.

Later on, the cars would boast Glidamatic spring suspension, opening bonnets and boots and diamond jewelled headlights. Perhaps Corgi's best known model is James Bond's Aston Martin DB5. First produced in 1965 and featuring ejector seat and front-mounted machine guns, it was an instant success earning the UK Toy of the Year Award that same year.

  • Friday concept: Austin AR6 Prototype 23 Aug 2013 (News)
All told, the AR6 looked like a fantastic little package, that had it reached production would have demonstrated that the British company had lost none of their magic touch in producing small cars."/>Later fully engineered prototype on test at the Gaydon proving ground scooped by CAR magazine in late 1986. Little did anyone outside of the company know at the time, that the car was so close to death. In profile, the rake of the windscreen looks pretty radical for its day, and many of the advanced features pictured on the earlier two models had been watered down somewhat for production (i.e., door handles, rear lamps, wheelsize).

The consortium is made up of international representatives of European transport ministries, automobile associations, insurers and consumer protection organizations, and performs comprehensive studies of the crash performance of new cars. • A Grand Monday: Rover ‘Tomcat’ 218 Coupe 5 Oct 2015 (News)
The most important job – having the headgasket replaced with an uprated item – has been done, but it’s also had front brake caliper refurbished, and new discs and pads fitted. It’s been a daily driver until recently, and looks like it’s been a reliable steed. As you can see from one of the pictures, there’s some rust on the rear right arch.
  • A Grand Monday: Triumph 2000 MkII 29 Sep 2014 (News)
.    As you can see from the pictures, the body requires a bit of work  - wheelarches and front valance being most noticeable. We’d also advise checking out the sill and the door bottoms. Paintwork is patchy and it looks like it’s had a blowever (or two). So not a concours car, then, but a classic that you could use on a daily basis and not have to worry about – provided you can get it do a decent standard mechanically.
  • New insurance saving tech from TomTom 8 Feb 2012 (News)
"We've dispensed with generalisations and said to our customers, if you believe you're a good driver, we'll believe you and we'll even give you the benefit up front," said Nigel Lombard, Managing Director of Fair Pay Insurance . "This is unlike some other telematics-based schemes where you may have to prove your ability over a number of months.  So if you think of your insurance as your car's MPG - the better you drive, the longer your fuel will last.  It's the same with Fair Pay Insurance, good drivers get more for their money and in that sense they will pay ultimately less."
