Fiesta 1.25 Zetec oil pressure.... 17 Apr 2001 (Forum)
I am not averse to taking out a fuse eg, but do I run into further problems with petrol contamination of catalyst? or loss of ECU settings which can be even less desirable? The plug leads are not immediately accessible in the dark! PS For info - Alarm on same car. Having had intermittent alarm problems I finally traced problem to iffy contact on bonnet switch when closed. -
Seat Altea - Seat Altea Breaks Down Randomly 17 Jul 2017 (Forum)
They then told me that they don't deal with gear boxes and I would have to take it to a Gearbox specialist. They then reset the ECU and gave me the diagnostic report. The dealer authorised me to take it to an auto gearbox specialist for a 1h diagnostics. However, the specialist couldn't find any error codes, even after driving it around for a while. -
Citroen Xsara Picasso (2000 - 2010) - 04 1.6 Hdi Non-starter P0087, P1113, P1351 19 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Please help me. I recently bought Picasso with 147,000 miles and it has a Bosch EDC16C3 ECU. While in Somerset the engine died, and the MIL was on. A local garage diagnosed dirty diesel, cleaned the tank, replaced the filter and switched off the MIL. I filled the tank at Morrison?s in Glastonbury. -
Audi A4 Cabriolet (Auto) - Warranty Nightmare!!! 19 Feb 2012 (Forum)
During the time this claim was going on I got my partner to email them and get information on what grounds they cover the ECU on the gearbox and they said as long as there was proof it was working and and pre-inspection was not needed, they would be able to cover the part. I am going to summarise a letter/email to the director of the company and see if anything further can be down but after my nightmare experience of 2 weeks where my car is still at the garage, I am not optimistic at all. -
Ford Mondeo - 03 Reg 2.0 TDCi 65k Miles - DMF issue, I pay 50%?? 25 Sep 2010 (Forum)
After speaking to Trading Standards, they suggested giving the dealer the chance to fix the car before rejecting the car. I let them book the car into Benfield themselves for the ECU update and an IDF check. It came back with no faults technically but that they advised the gearbox needed removing as they suspect flywheel problems. The dealer came back to me saying it would cost them £705 to fix the DMF with new clutch and they would pay 50% towards. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 04 2.0 TDCI 115: Flashing glow plug light 2 Jun 2009 (Forum)
From what I've read the possible causes could be (starting with cheapest option) Camshaft sensor Crankshaft sensor Pressure sensor on fuel pump Fuel filter and fuel gauge sender unit ECU recalibration and recoding injector EGR valve Reconditioning injectors New Injectors So starting with the cheapest option first I've replaced the cam shaft sensor (which is what the AA man did) and reset the ECU and no change. -
Mazda 2 - Remap? 4 May 2022 (Forum)
It's reasonably nippy for a car in this category, with a 0-62 of 9.4 (if you give it some revs - no turbo). However... https://www.mybluefin.co.uk/Details/ECU-Remap/Mazda/Mazda2-MK4-2014/Petrol/Sport1-5-89-bhp/stage-1 An extra 39bhp! Plus a not quite so impressive 11Nm (8lbft?). And don't forget the improved economy :) Funnily enough the max power/torque figures are the same for all 3 versions (and other companies offer identical improvements). -
Take me back 23 Jun 2021 (Forum)
I hate all the unnecessary electronic gubbins that are fitted to even the smallest of cars these days. Bluetooth this, hands free that, twenty ECU’s, numb electric steering and hugely complex automated manual gearbox all with an almost certain gargantuan bill for repair at the other end. My wife’s Volvo is full of complex electronics that fill me with fear and are never used by me if I can avoid it. -
Mazda 3 - mazda 3 1.6 diesel oil temp minus 40? 1 Nov 2019 (Forum)
I have managed to do a manual re-gen and clear the DPF out, the problem i am having is that the oil temp is saying minus 40. i think that because the ECU is getting the reading of minus 40 degrees the DPF will not re-generate its self. my first thought was that the oil temp gauge was faulty, but i cant seem to find where the oil temp gauge is. i thought it may have been in the oil pressure switch but that only has one wire from it which i think just tells the computer weather the switch is on or off. does anyone know where the oil temperature reading comes from? -
Corsa D - Lack of power/chugging/ 21 Jun 2019 (Forum)
- Blocked up exhaust - Burnt out valves - Clean up the throttle butterfly - EGR valve (hesitation at light throttle) - Connections to ECU (damp, or oil residue from changed filter) - Loose bolts around bell housing (causing electrical fault) - Camshaft sensor (jerking at constant speed, loss of power when idle/neutral) - Any other electrical fault? -
Honda Jazz 2016 - Starting problem - Battery / charging system 30 Mar 2018 (Forum)
I mentioned to the service team with the above information and told me not to measure the battery voltage with a multimeter as this could damage the ECU and charging system. Is this possible?? Honda uses smart charging system, but the voltage seems variable from my observation being anything low as 9v to 14.9v. Not sure if this is normal. So please advise if this is normal. -
Jaguar X-Type Estate (2004 - 2007) - 04 2.0D Engine cuts out..... 20 Oct 2017 (Forum)
That makes me suspect that the main fuel pump could be faulty, or some other sensor which leads to the ECU switching the pump off. Then it started again. I checked the connections on the main fuel pump and on the fuel pressure sensor. Needless to say it broke down again after another 3 miles. Any ideas gratefully received...... -
Peugeot 307 CC - Peugeot 307 intermittent starting problems 28 Jun 2017 (Forum)
The car is used quite a lot, probably 5-10 trips a day. So ~90% of the time it always runs fine. I've read the ECU, nothing major jumped out aside from a P0106 fault (which may or may not be related). I've double checked that all air pipes are looking good - no sign of any cracks/leaks/etc. The car was last serviced by a Peugeot dealer in October 16. -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 2003 1.4 Cutting out low idle revs 25 Mar 2017 (Forum)
If I press the clutch in at any time or put it in neural the revs fall and it idles normally. There is no engine light on and no other faults whatsoever. I?m thinking the ecu has a problem with the new coil or was affected by the old one, or an air leak somewhere. Either way I want to pinpoint the problem myself to avoid paying the local dealer to look at it then tell me its fine because there are no fault codes! -
Puegot Boxer Van 2L petrol 1997 - Problems after Cam Belt Change 11 Feb 2016 (Forum)
It did this for 5 minutes then started running ok mechanic reckoned he spent 4 hours fault finding and found a dry joint on the ecu. Mechanic reckoned it had been running rich for ages and needed a run out. drove it home and it did seem nippier and to run smoother than before. Parked it up (a week ago - its a motorhome) went to start it today; It started and ticked over lovely, no spluttering or change in tickover. -
Peugeot 407 (2004 - ) - 05 2.0HDi depollution/additive system fault 4 Feb 2016 (Forum)
After scanning with OBD2 scanner the following faults codes been found P1435 ? Additive system fault (unfortunately I can?t scan additive ECU) P0461 - Fuel Level Sensor Performance P2408 - Fuel Cap Sensor After cleaning fault codes P1435 only comes on after engine start, but after few more starts and other two comes again. I did research and it is linked to additive system. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 Instrument cluster fault symptoms 10 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Other forums suggest there is no diagnostic for the cluster anyway. Further suggestions have included the ECU and dodgey electrical connectors or wiring. Apparently the alternator is regulated via some part of the engine control system, so this may not be the root cause. I am reluctant to have to pay £280 speculatively for a replacement alternator with no guarantee this is the real problem only to face further bills for who knows what! -
2003 Renault Megane 1.4 16V Petrol - Megane II 1.4 16V Idle and starting problem 3 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I have replaced coils, plugs, TDC sensor, coolant temp sensor and cleaned the electronic throttle body twice and even ran some Cataclean through the fuel but have not managed to resolve the problem. My code scanner has found no codes in the ECU and therefore I have no idea where else to look. My only thought was the throttle body O rings may not be tight enough and there could be an air leak? There are no other air hoses that would cause this issue and there is no idle control valve on the throttle body as it's electric. -
Fiat Panda 1.1 Active 2006 - Cold Start problem with idle RECTIFIED 5 Jun 2014 (Forum)
The fix appeared to be something with the battery !!! There was enough charge for the cranking of the engine but not enough juice to power ECU whatchermecallits........ Anyway, I took battery off (original since new) and recharged overnight. Replaced in the morning and car started perfectly :) This is clearly a battery issue although just doesnt seem right that battery can start car but affect other crucial parts - which is why I didn't even suspect it in the first place. -
nissan almera - diagnostic tests 27 Dec 2013 (Forum)
i returned to the garage and again they tested and got the same result, the technician suspected an ecu fault, i sent it off to be tested where it was found to be faulty and was rebuilt for me. (It was diagnosed as something to do with ignition coil). On putting it back on the car as soon as car was started the needle started bouncing again and the car felt as though it was still struggling struggling for fuel.
