  • Citroen C4 VTR+ HDi 5 door - Long high speed cruises, comfort and not too wide 5 May 2015 (Forum)
We have a 2007 Citroen C4 VTR+ HDi hatchback, and cover about 15,000 miles a year, but half of that is done in 13 hour high cruise speed motorway blasts to and from the south of France on autoroutes - 750 miles a day on 10 days each year. We need to replace it with a comfortable car with reasonable carrying volume and max width of 2000mm to go into a narrow village street.

  • Toyota Avensis - Avensis Clutch Slipping 18 Mar 2015 (Forum)
I currently own a 2012 1.8 vmatic avensis estate with 39,000 miles on the clock. I have owned the car for 2 years having previously been a Toyota management car.  Last week whilst driving the clutch began slipping in 4th through to sixth gear. Toyota are of the opinion this is fair wear and tear and is not covered under warranty.
  • Winter tyres and insurance 22 Dec 2014 (Forum)
NO Does the fitting of winter tyres affect the amount of cover provided to customers? NO What would you guys advice: should I pay the extra premium or in case of claim argue using the ABI document?
  • Vauxhall Agila - Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty Issue 12 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I took my wife's Agila in for service this week and reported a leak from the radiator reservoir.  Both the dealer, Evans Halshaw, and Vauxhall Customer Care have advised this is not covered under the lifetime warranty.  They claim this problem is down to how the car has been driven, perhaps over too many bumpy roads.  The four year old vehicle is my wife's shopping car and has only done 6,000 miles locally.
  • Rover 75 - Car stolen from mechanics yard 29 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Gents, Wonder if you can advise me about what could be an awkward situation. Just heard the FIL has had his beloved Rover 75 stolen from a mechanics yard....
  • Short Term Insurance for a Non-Resident 15 Dec 2009 (Forum)
m coming over to England to stay with my father, while my sister and family take a well-deserved break over Christmas and New Year and want to arrange temporary insurance for me to drive her car. The car is presently covered by her husband?s trade insurance but I cannot be added as I am not resident in the UK. Every site I?ve tried on the Internet is only for UK/ EU residents. Does anybody know of an insurance company that would arrange temporary insurance for a non UK/EU driver?
  • SEAT Altea (2004 - ) - 04 2.0 Vibration from rear wheel 29 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I had a wheel bearing replaced on offside rear 11 months ago, and it has to be replaced again this month (replacement covered by warranty so no charge). I am still experiencing a slight vibration through car when accelerating, especially 40 -50 mph and more noticeable when going up an incline. I have 4 new tyres (under 1000 miles) and all wheel balancing was checked yesterday.
  • Insurance cancellation before it starts and fees? 28 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Now I've had a change of plan and have decided to cancel the insurance before it is scheduled to kick in as I intend to sell the car before then. I called the insurance broker and they have told me that I must pay a £40 fee due to cover their admin fees so far because I've verbally agreed to proceed with the insurance. My question, do I have to be forced into paying this fee?
  • Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 2003 1.2 Emulsified oil on filler cap and the tube 1 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Clio 1.2 , 2003 , only 36000 miles but signs of emulsified oil on bottom of filler cap and up the tube. My immediate thought is to walk away , especially after test drive the car feels a bit gutless. I know from experience the old Fiestas pre-Zetec were awful for emulsified oil due to design of rocker cover, and am very wary of car suggesting blown head gasket after having to deal with a couple in the past!
  • KIA Rio (2005 - ) - So thats where all the screenwash is going..... 8 Jan 2009 (Forum)
My Rio's rear washer supply pipe has presumably split, I think this runs (no pun intended) behind the interior door sill trim as the driver's side carpet is now nice and squishy. The car is under 2 years old, looking through the warranty booklet this may be an 'act of god' or not as it is written in legalise. Anyone here think that warranty might cover this? I think I the screenwash was dilluted at 1 to 4 so possibly on the weak side for the cold temps of the last 2 days (last topped up just before chrimbo) and my car lives outside.
  • Suzuki Swift (2005 - ) - Warranty Woes 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Also, say the car was left on the Dealer's forecourt overnight and was vandalised, would the Dealer be liable to pay for the repair?
  • Lexus IS250/220D (2005 - ) - 06 2.2 Fuel consumption 9 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I have covered 40k in my IS220 diesel and only get between 31 and 32 mpg (Shell ultimate). I only do long journeys and I am not a fast driver. I was surprised to find that when I drove an identical car the service agent lent me at the last service I got 47 mpg.
  • Austin (Rover) Mini (1972 - 2001) - 95 1.3 smokin electrics 30 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I have an older car I don't use much. The battery was running low so I removed it and trickle charged it on a ' clever ' charger until it was fully juiced . On connecting it back to the car , suddenly smoke emerged from the engine bay - I quickly disconnected it...
  • Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - 2005 2Ltr TDI Bad starting 15 Aug 2008 (Forum)
It fires right away but the rpm is down at 600 and it coughts and splutters for two seconds while white smoke is coming out of exhaust. After all this she idles 100% Has anyone any ideas. i have just bought the car and a full 60k service was carried out at 55k 12/07 I have removed the bleed screw from the fuel filter and turned the ign on with my finger covering it and the pressure of the electric lift pump in the tank is identical to a good atarting car.
  • Audi A3 Sportback (2004 - ) - Young A3 Sportback 2.0 tdi and Dual Mass Flywheel 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Mercifully the warranty will cover this, but what is the general experience with this Volkswagen group's 2 litre diesel?
  • Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - Honda Servicing 9 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I tried 5 local main dealers - the most expensive was £350 and the cheapest was £245. The cheapest dealer even offered a free loan car and offered to collect / drop off our car, so I guess they will get the business. I was told that during a major service on a VTEC engine the valve clearences are checked, meaning the rocker cover has to come off.
  • Skoda Fabia 1.9tdi performance fall off. 16 Jul 2007 (Forum)
t may be subjective, but for some time now it seems that my 2001 Fabia 1.9tdi has not got the performance which it had even a year or so ago. The car has covered 112,000 kilometres ( about 70,000 miles). It seems to struggle somewhat up hills and often has a job to keep up with some fairly ordinary diesel competition. There are no obvious signs of mechanical/electrical/computer/turbo mis-function and the car has been maintained meticulously by a VW/Skoda main dealer.
  • Laguna Carminat Sat Nav. 11 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I purchased from a dealer a Laguna with Carminat Sat Nav. However, it didn't come with the manual which covers the radio/ CD player and sat nav. The dealer cannot get one from scouting around he says, the previous owner took it out the car (why?, why?) and it seems that I cannot get one from Renault as it doesn't have a part No. and they aren't printed anyway.
  • Job 31 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I'm deliberately not going to give much detail so that people don't rule anything out. I'm very interested in cars, motorbikes, computers, and computer systems (Even down to car ECU's etc.) I know that a lot of BRer's (!) are intelligent and/or have interesting sounding jobs. So, if you can - Suggest me a job that you think would cover my interests/knowledge.
