Vauxhall Agila - Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty Issue - AlanJ1952

I am not convinced the Vauxhall Lifetime warranty is as good as stated. I took my wife's Agila in for service this week and reported a leak from the radiator reservoir. Both the dealer, Evans Halshaw, and Vauxhall Customer Care have advised this is not covered under the lifetime warranty. They claim this problem is down to how the car has been driven, perhaps over too many bumpy roads. The four year old vehicle is my wife's shopping car and has only done 6,000 miles locally. I am not sure I would treat this lifetime warranty as a reason to buy Vauxhall again, if they try to wriggle out of it for a mere £70 repair what will they be like on major components!

Where is the leak?

Is there any evidence, marks, scratches etc, to corroborate suggestion it's been damaged by grounding or otherr impact?

So, vauxhall are using the old apple ploy, "you're driving it wrong!"

Maybe somewhere buried in the small print is "this warranty is void in the event you drive the car..."

It would be funny if it wasnt so serious. Is there an ombudsman you could complain to?

Do you have this response in writing?

If you had driven th ecar hard over poor surfaces (say, off road up and down a farm track every day), then some excess wear and tear would be expected - BUT, I would expect other components in the steering and suspension systems to suffer first long before it caused a coolant leak as a result of the excessive NVH inputs.

Do Vauxhall have any input into the Agila? I would assume everything except the Vauxhall badge are supplied by Suzuki?

I've got an Agila B and follow both of those forums. Few problems have been reported so far and, as far as I can see, there certainly isn't a common one.

I've seen posted elsewhere that the Agila has the lowest warranty claim rate of any Vauxhall model, by a long, long way - so no problem can be common but no car model is totally problem-free.

I've owned a few Suzukis and they have never put a foot wrong with basic maintenance following the manufacturers service regime they just seem to go on and on.
