er... another Omega question!!! 16 Sep 2002 (Forum)
No other problems though, and handbrake seems fine but it seemed at the time that it tried to jump out of the ratchet just as I released it. Could it have been the auto box settling into park lock? Simon _____________________________________ SVPworld (incorporating PSRworld) www.svpworld.com -
Parking Enforcement Criminals 24 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Disabled bay painted around car A council has apologised to a woman who was fined £60 after workmen painted a disabled bay around her car. When Shirley Hatcher, 67, parked her car in North Road, Southampton, Hampshire, there were no parking restrictions in place. Mrs Hatcher, of Priory Road, said: "I had just gone to the hairdressers and when I returned there was this disabled bay and the £60 fine." -

Peugeot 106 - Peugeot 106 Cutting Out (Only After Being Parked). 20 Sep 2015 (Forum)
My 1998 1.1 106 has started cutting out. After being parked for a while (Usually about half an hour). It starts up again fine, but cuts out within a mile or two. It happens on short and longer journeys, but never until after I've stopped. I drove it for about 25 miles the day and it was fine.... again, until I stopped for about half an hour and within a mile had gone again. -
Fines for untaxed car 14 Aug 2008 (Forum)
However, yesterday I received a letter from the DVLA saying I have to pay fine of £103 for having untaxed vehicle on the road at 13:43 on 02/07/08. That was 30 mins AFTER the car was clamped. Surely they can't fine me again?!?I did try to pay the clampers straight away so I could move the car into my driveway, was only parked long enough for my sister to move her car out of the way. They refused and wouldn't unclamp it until the next morning so I also had to pay to get a taxi to work and back to my parents house again.I know I was in the wrong and I accept that but surely they can't take any more of my money?!? -
Kia Sportage - Is faulty Electronic Parking Brake an MOT fail? 10 Sep 2022 (Forum)
Our 69 plate Sportage has a faulty Electronic Parking Brake (it doesnt seem to engage and not does the light come on). We took it in around June and the dealer has told us it's fine to drive but the parts may take some time to arrive ( as of today they still don't know). -
Litter fine 30 Nov 2016 (Forum)
This officer approached her and issued a fine. Where does she stand as she is has been brought up not to litter and she feels that a genuine mistake was made. Is there an redress as with parking notices or is it only contestable in court? Regards in anticipation of any replies. -
Parking tickets-valid or not 2 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Last night I visited a friend with residents parking!!! I duly placed the visitors pass, with yesterdays date in the windscreen and a few bevvies later crashed out on their floor. When I left this morning at 9.50am (quite reasonable i thought) I had received a parking ticket (at 9.41am) for parking in a residents space. -
Two parking space hog 28 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I am thinking more along the lines of frightening the driver but not causing any damage, not even a scratch. (If only I had had a bag of fresh manure in the boot!) I wonder if a parking warden could have been 'summoned' (how?) to impose a fine? -
Focus wont go in to 5th gear or reverse 7 Aug 2006 (Forum)
A few days ago I stalled i accidently went to put it in reverse withiout the clutch down which stalled it as could be expected. It has reversed fine since then and gone in to 5th fine since then....until yesterday. Yesterday I parked it in a supermarket car park and it will not go in to reverse at all, or 5th gear. The formation is 1 3 5 I_ I _ I I I I 2 4 R Luckily I managed to get it pushed out the car parking space and drove it home using 1,2,3,4 Now I am not sure what the problem could be or what the cost of repair may be. -
Protection of Freedoms Bill: a weasel clause 26 Feb 2011 (Forum)
However, there is danger revealed by the final sentence of the explanatory notice that I have copied below. Britain is full of private parking companies that levy enormous "fines" on people who stop too long in shopping car parks, enter private roads (usually unwittingly) and commit various other very minor mischiefs on private land. The companies get agreement of the land owner to police the privately owned land and then make a profit by trying to enforce "fines". -
PCN - no work done at suspended bays 12 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Dear Honest John. Unusual one here I think. My wife was issued a parking ticket at 8:07am on the first morning of a five day suspension of a row of parking bays. The suspension was for pavement repairs. The suspension was taken down by 8am the next morning and no work was done on the pavement, no men, materials or any activity took place. -
Cloned plates 30 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Guy's plate gets cloned and over 6 weeks the cloner (is that a word) racks up £2,000 in speeding tickets/parking fines/bus lane fines. The guy contacts the Council, not interested just pay up, contacts the Police who call him a liar. He tracks the cloned plate and provides phtographs of the car to the Police/Council plus the cloners address. -
Leyland Roadrunner - Leyland Roadrunner Parking Brakes 29 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I have a leyland roadrunner, 1990, which has just failed the MOT. The main failure is the parking brakes are only 7%. When you first start up, until there is enough air in the system, the lorry will not move, so they are working. The foot brakes are fine. The lorry has been sat for about 18 months. -

Department of the bleeding obvious 16 Jul 2008 (Forum)
A smallish inside page item in today's Telegraph informs us that parking in London is the world's most expensive. Please: tell us about it. And about the clacking robots, strangely bearing human identities, that pursue the enforcement of countless thousands of unjust parking fines, many based on nothing but a photograph of a number plate taken from a moving van, with a nerveless zeal worthy of their nearest moral equivalents: the pimps who used to run Soho clip joints. -

parking in a private car park 18 Jan 2013 (Forum)
The spaces do not have any white lines round, and there are no yellow lines or any 'no parking' signs. When I park here the 'car park police' leave notes on my car. These started as (quite rude) hand written notes, grew into polite printed notes stating I was 'not parked in a designated parking space' to a 'WARNING you have parked in a no parking area' sign which was glued to my window.
