  On the plus side, looking a few years down the line, it may be easier to sell on with a LPG conversion, it may even be the only way to sell a large petrol 4X4......which got me wondering whether it may be worthwhile after all. I've done some sums over 2 years.... Current average consumption - 23mpg (Est'd) LPG consumption - 18mpg Mileage over next 2 years - 24000 (Est'd) avg cost of petrol - £1/l or £4.5/gallon (Est'd) avg cost of LPG - £0.5/l or £2.25/gallon Petrol costs - £4700 (approx) LPG costs - £3000 (approx) Ok, so the fuel cost saving works out at around £1700, now assuming that a decent LPG conversion is going to cost around £2K, I'd be out of pocket.

  Hi, I bought a Ford Focus 1.8 2004 zetec with the factory LPG conversion in March this year, which has worked fine until recenetly. About 3 weeks ago the LPG system stopped working for around 2-3 days (i.e. total power loss when the engine warmed up enought to automatically switch over to LPG).

  My stepbrother has recently returned to the UK to visit family after working in Holland. According to him, many cars out there are LPG converted but those with older cars are not using the LPG tanks but putting "Calor" gas cylinders in the boot and running from those instead as it is cheaper. Now obviously in the UK this would be very naughty as like red diesel there is no road fuel duty on gas cylinders but in theory how easy would it be to convert an LPG car to run from cylinders?

  Recently I bought a 2000 model Ford Explorer converted to run on LPG (dual-fuel - Romano system; no idea whether it's fully sequential or not) When running on LPG, it runs lovely and smooth, but when I switch to petrol (it needs to start up on petrol, then switches over) it runs with the most appalling misfire.

  Can anyone explain why caravans and motorhomes that carry propane are allowed to use the channel tunnel (with certain restrictions) but cars adapted for LPG are not? There doesn't, at first glance at least, appear to be any particular logic to this.

  I've seen that running on LPG could do Damage to your engine. I do some 15/20k per year and thought of fitting LPG to my car. Is the benifits from this low cost fuel worth the savings and what problems could be expected. If as seen suggesting running half Gas/Petrol, then might as well run a diesel with the same fuel costs per year overall as Gas/Petrol.

  LPG sales at filling stations are so tiny that filling station owners are removing LPG pumps to make space for EV chargers. And LPG prices have gone up a great deal. So if you have a petrol or diesel engine, LPG conversion is not nearly as attractive as it used to be.

  The road was closed for an hour at junction 27, the Sampford Peverell turn-off, near Tiverton, after the incident at about 1130 GMT. 26 December 2008 Police said the motorway was closed for safety reasons because the vehicle was dual-fuelled, carrying petrol or diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel." I have not seen any other reports of other road closures for this reason. Will this lead to LPG conversions having warning stickers re LPG?

  The LPG system on a friend's car decided to pack up at the weekend. The car is an "S" reg Rover 820 Auto, with (but don't quote me on this) a LaVorta? LPG conversion. The car was driven all the way from Oxfordshire to Dover and onto the Ferry to France with no problems whatsoever.
