Hi, I'm interested in buying a second hand Skoda Fabia. The car is low mileage, approx 10,000 miles, about 18 months old. However the dealer (approved skoda) has told me that the car was previously used as a replacement car for drivers whose own car was off the road. -

Peugeot 206 - Pay to repair my car, or invest in a new one? 23 Nov 2018 (Forum)
So I have a 1.4L peugeot 206 on 75,000k miles from 2005 that failed an MOT. I can't decide if I should get it fixed or invest in a new (very old) car. Here is a list on my car's MOT failures - https://pastebin.com/i3xs64sT I've been considering a 2005 1.4l C3 Desire (100,000 miles) for about £600 or various Yaris's from 2001-2003 (generally 100,000 - 120K miles). -- from £400-£900 My main priorities are overall cost, including insurance because i'm a new, 27 year old driver, reliability, safety and a relatively powerful engine that's fun and comfortable to drive. -

Neighbours bought a new car last year and took it to the dealer for the first service. car was damaged by the mechanic, minor plastic trim on the side, day later another mechanic parked car and hit a raised kerb. They are understandably upset, but have a much superior car while the other one is in for bodywork. -
Nissan Note S - Welding and car value 22 Mar 2021 (Forum)
I had some welding done on my current car at the last MOT and am curious to know if that would affect the sale price. It's pretty old anyway so not expecting much but runs well and has had a lot of work done (clutch, suspension etc) so am keen to try and get some cash for it. -

Archive New Car prices 31 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Everyone knows the saloon bar topic of a car losing 50% of it's value after 3 years and i have every reason to believe that to be true. There is plenty of on line info re used cars eg the stuff that Autotrader does it is brilliant but , short of ringing a dealership can anyone give me a free link of where can I find out what the ORIGINAL new saleroom price of a 3/4/5 year old model was? -
Cat C write off 15 Jun 2016 (Forum)
I am thinking of buying a cat C car. How much in % terms does it knock off the value of a two year old car which has been a C. It is below " book price" and I and wondering if it is the right price considering. If I am happy with the car I would intend keeping it six or seven years so the residual value would not be too much of an issue. -
500 motorway miles per week - what car? 24 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Hi, I am looking for a car to do around 500 motorway miles per week (for the university term so approximately 25 weeks of the year). I'm looking for a comfortable car with decent MPG (43+). However, due to being an 18 year old who has had a crash I'd need something in a relatively low insurance group. -
Any - Car for Daughter 1 Oct 2013 (Forum)
My daugter has just passed her test and is looking to buy her first car. She has a three year old son so a five door is essential. She wants something very small and seems set on either a Peugeot 107 or a Citroen C1. She will be doing some motorway driving so needs an engine suitable for this. -
Guarantee on 2nd hand car 15 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Can anyone point me out to a source of information regarding the guarantee period that auto dealers give. My son has bought a four year old car from a large and successful 2nd hand dealer, huge site - hundreds of cars on show. The dealer has given a 30 day guarantee. I've seen HJ quote periods many times, including sale of goods legislation, but my memory has never been much better than that of a goldfish. -
Kids Playing in Cars 6 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Neighbour's 11 year old son seems to use his Mum's Honda CRV as a playground. Jumps in and turns on the stereo, sits in the driving seat making vroom noises etc. Even plays ball games in and out of the car. Returned his strayed football a while ago to see one of his mates standing on the bonnet. -

SEAT Ibiza III (2002 - 2008) - Mileage to Car age trade off 27 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Hello, It's probably an eternally argued point but I'd like some quick opinions on this dilema Seat Ibiza 1.2sx 2004 17,000miles OR Seat Ibiza 1.2sx 2006 34,000miles So the question is: Old Car Low Mileage OR young car high mileage? Which is the better trade off Miles or Years. Regards to all you honest-johners Phil -

Car Service- Comments please 16 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi, My Mitsubishi Carisma Diesel has gone in for a service this morning and the lovely young man has called to say that the rear brake pads need changing. Is it me or does this seem odd for a 2 year old car that's only done 25K? I would have expected the fronts to go before the rear? Any comments appreciated... Should I mention that this is also a free service as part of the 3 year free servicing provided with the car.
