Toyota Avensis (2003 - 2008) - 2006 t180 - is it a good buy? 28 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Have seen a 2006 Avensis tourer t180 with 38k on the clock for £10795 and wondered if any thought this was a good buy. Haven't asked about Part ex value of my 2002 Mazda 6 estate at that dealer yet but was offered 3k at another supermarket and want to get rid of it due to rust issues. {subject header made less vague.} -
Guaranteed Future Values 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I am currently doing some sums to take back to my Mazda dealer for a personal contract plan. The APR is obviously fixed and the deposit is up to me. The two dealer quoted figures which affect the payments are the price new and the GFV. I know that there is movement to be had on the price but is the GFV set in stone? -
Which family saloon? 18 Dec 2006 (Forum)
He does about 8000 miles a year and it will be a PETROL, hes not going anywhere near a diesel after all the trouble I had with my TDCI !!! Is the automatic box in the Mazda the same as the one in the Ford; I think the engines are the same. -
How important is appearance of your car 9 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Do you find that appearance figures highly in your selection of a replacement vehicle? For instance I personally find the mid size japanese cars ie; Honda Accord, Toyota Avensis, Mazda 6 etc; rather bland and lacking in visual appeal, although I know that they are very good cars. Which figures most prominently in your wish list when the time to change looms? -
Which Small Automatic? 23 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I have a problem with my left knee and it looks like I need a car with an automatic transmission. It has to be reliable. I'd prefer something small (no bigger than my Mazda 323 because of a narrow garage). I'd also like something with a bit of oomph that handles well. I have a horrible feeling that I'm asking for the impossible, but any suggestions would be very welcome. -
Tyre sizes in metric 10 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I imagined so as Brussels would have clamped down on that wouldnt they? Just made me think as I was fitted some of those god awful Halfords wheel trims to my Mazda, which say 13 inch but need some serious modification to fit a 13 inch wheel! 101 uses for a hammer... -
mx5 number plate box 30 May 2006 (Forum)
Hi, techy people. Can anyone out there give some advice? My dad has a 95 mk1 mazda mx5. Over the weekend he nerfed the front and crack the number plate and the box it is housed in. Can anyone tell me me how the number plate box is retained on the bumper, and the easiest way of replacing it? -
Personalised Registration 27 Dec 2005 (Forum)
The other option is to go for somthing like X1 JAN (Date of Birth). Finally I have the option of Y111 BAR or 0002 BAR (I saw a 0002 plate on a Mazda RX8 and thought it really stood out). Any ideas? -
weak horns on japanese cars 1 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Does anyone have an explanation why most Japanese cars I have driven all have weaker sounding horns than European cars? A recent show on Men & Motors channel had a Mazda MX-5, which they highly recommended, apart from the horn which made it sound like a toy car! IMHO, the horns on Fords and Vauxhalls have always been far more powerful. -

Lexus lights 16 Feb 2005 (Forum)
These accessories have been hijacked by the boy racer fraternity much to IMO to the detrimental effect on the image and maybe residuals of cars there fitted to as standard, ie Lexus, Mazda etc. The sight of a tired Ford Escort with rear lenses that look ridiculas and are probably worth more than the car make me cringe. I want to ask the driver, Why? Why? (fit them) Each to there own I suppose. -
Sporty Little Number 14 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Car buying time again and this time it's for SWMBO. She wants a small sporty number preferably Japanese such as Mazda MX5, Toyota MR2, Honda Somehting-or-other. Budget is £5K and I want something reliable and not too expensive to run but fun to drive. I'd consider anything up to about 5 yrs old. Am I asking for a bit too much for £5K. -
Wipers not parking 21 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Old Mazda 323, and when at speed, the wipers don't park, same when on intermittent. They get about half way down the screen, do a couple of lurches, then stop. They park ok at standstill, but obviously the extra drag at speed (it does nearly 70 you know)screws it up. -
non interference engines 13 Jun 2002 (Forum)
Hi I have been reliably informed that my car (mazda mx6)has a non interference engine. Now I take it that this means that should the cambelt (timing) belt snap, then the pistons won't touch the valves. Firstly is this correct? If so, why should I bother to change the cambelt, if its not going to damage the engine? -
MX5 Engine (remember that one?) 28 Feb 2002 (Forum)
There was much debate over liabilty & the changing of oil etc. but after prolonged negotions with Mazda I am VERY pleased to tell you all that they have agreed to replace the engine free of charge. Viva la consumer! Many thanks to all those who offered support, advice & G&Ts. Gill -
Mazda 3 - Car not starting. Please Help! 10 Apr 2021 (Forum)
I have a 2005 Mazda 3 as a 1.6 petrol with 90k on the clock. The car has a full service history and has literally just been through a full service and MOT. I had a new battery fitted around 3 months ago, so I know the battery is fine. -

7 seaters 6 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I'm looking for a seven seater with powered rear sliding doors and a decent boot with all 7 seats in place. Budget is 5-7K. Further under 7 I keep the more I have for my estate car budget :) Was thinking Mazda 5 and no Renaults, won't be bitten by that electrical gremlin again. Another other cars ye all can think of? Cheers -
Mitsubishi ASX - The ASX unsung SUV 29 Jul 2013 (Forum)
HJ did a really positive write up of this great all round SUV Unfortunately all the major mags just don't bother to compare it with the bigger punching manufacturers such as Mazda Nissan and Honda. It has many great features but the most important for many must be that it is narrower and a proper in town car as well as being very capable off road. I think motoring journalists are too fond of the big names. -
