What price an Audi Coupe? 25 Jul 2002 (Forum)
I'm toying with the idea of selling my Audi and buying a diesel, since my daily round trip to work is about to increase from 3 miles to 30. It's a Coupe 20V manual, 1990/H, 142K, no service history until I bought it, but lots of useful bills since (cambelt, brake discs, shock absorbers and more). -

I have a retired friend who is being driven insane by what appears to be a very subtle intermittant fault that all the so called expert engine tuners can not get to grips with. The car in question is a 1993 Audi 2 litre E Model. Now the fault. Somedays he can travel 30 miles or so on the motorway at legal speed without any problems either with the engine or transmission. (it is not an automatic transmission model). -

I intend to keep the car for a fair time and run it to high mileage- I see that there are legions of Audis with staggering miles on them on Autotrader so I can only assume they are capable of it. Main question then - is the engine and gearbox/drive train on these Audis sound? I have heard about multitronic woes but I will opt for the real torque convertor auto if needs be? -

Lots of Audi / vw / Seat / Skoda drivers with 2.0 tdi engines are reporting piezo injector failures. These are happening due to a fault regardless of mileage or service history and appear to be more age related ( just outside warranty ) Many people are now reporting these instances to vosa. -

I have ruled out another Toyota, as the local dealer is a load of rubbish, when I enquired about a test drive, the guy never even lookd up from his desk, just said he hadn't any cars to show me, I pointed out that other dealers such as Audi were virtually begging me to take a test drive. . . So I have test driven both the Passat CC 2.0TDI and Audi A4 2.0TDI, both of which I absolutely love, for different reasons, but they have a feeling of solidity and calm, which I appreciate. -

I've taken my car to three garages and got three different diagnosis. I eventually went with one (An Audi approved one) and they put the changes in and the car is no better. -

they now say it does rest but the light will come on after 40 miles which I find hard to believe - they told me this is in the manual, now they tell me it's not in the manual but is in the Audi service centre technical manual which I don't see 2) They say they can't see a fault anywhere but surely if the system hasn't resent, that would provide a fault on the system? -

Further investigation reveals that it is actually the Volkswagen group that they are talking about. Considering we are now talking about Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Seat, Bently , Bugatti, Lamborghini and Porsche, it is not really surprising. Considering the amount of Audi cars alone on the British roads, VAG group cars must have overtaken Toyota/Lexus long ago in the UK. -
