  • One Careful Owner!! 26 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Went to a Mazda Event on the weekend at Knockhill. Had a laugh driving RX-8s around the circuit and driving challenges in MX-5s. Biggest topic of conversation was the unlucky people who were going to end up with all those thrashed (clutch/brakes/tyres) 'Mazda demonstation model' cars.
  • Is it an auto or not? 2 Sep 2004 (Forum)
SWMBO is learning to drive and it could be that a geared car is just too much to learn and an auto would be better. Cheers

  • Ford Puma 1.7 - Timing Belt 2 Mar 2004 (Forum)
SiL's car has done 32k. She asked a good question today. Is it a belt drive or chain drive and of so when does it need changing. Manual wasn't any help. Had to shrug my shoulders and approach Those With Greater Knowledge.

  • Skodas octavia - feels like a flat tyre but isn't. 6 Jan 2018 (Forum)
So i'm trying to figure out what is that he could be ajusting on the front end that could cause this sensation when im driving ? right now it feels like i was 200 stone when driving at the front right feels off when driving similar to how a car feels when it's been parked up for a few days and develops a flat spot. Could it be unequal tie rod lengths ?
  • Renault Megane - Driving in London 23 Sep 2015 (Forum)
But where did they end up, you would have thought they'd got to Gatwick. But no, they were just a cars length in front. It's amazing the way they drive around here. It is not long since I passed my test but driving around here is becoming a challenge!

  • Simmering a turbo "properly"? 21 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I understand the concept of giving the engine (and thus the oil) a few minutes to warm up before caning the car, and I've also read about "simmering" the turbo after a run by leaving the engine running for a moment or two at idle, which gives oil time to pass through the system and cool the turbo a little before switching off. I live on the Isle of Man and my drive to and from work involves a small amount of town driving, a blast over the wonderful mountain road (part of the TT circuit), and then a small amount of town driving. Does that small amount of town driving at the end of the run count as simmering the turbo?
  • big, safe cars that go round corners 3 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Right, now that I've sent the S80 back, I want to get another set of wheels. After most of my driving career spent driving very large, big fat engined, floaty cars with pillow soft rides, the few weeks I had with my 160 quid Primera opened my eyes to cars that with good roadholding abilities, and how that can actually be considered a "safety measure"!

  • Collective help from forum - Old friend driving dilemma Poor driving, 18 Oct 2017 (Forum)
So off he went, did it and was told that he would be hearing from them. Following week licence turned up, and has now been driving for an extra ten years. However, my personal opinion is that he frightens the daylights out of me when i am with him, and has little spatial awareness nowadays. He has driving glasses as required but does not always wear them.

  • Ford Fiesta - Battery draining 24 Jan 2022 (Forum)
Hi everyone. Really need some help with my 18 year old sons car. The battery light keeps coming on while driving, then the ABS light. He pulls over and switches the engine off and then the car will not restart to the point of no hazard lights or anything. As the battery is driving it looks like he is having a disco as the whole dash starts flashing until it is complete dead.
