Ford Puma 1.7 - Timing Belt - Pugugly {P}
SiL's car has done 32k. She asked a good question today. Is it a belt drive or chain drive and of so when does it need changing. Manual wasn't any help. Had to shrug my shoulders and approach Those With Greater Knowledge.

Belt-not for a long time yet-not in the manual but you'll find details in the service book/schedule.

That's how I defined it (once we laid hands on the Service Book)
It is a multi vehicle document covering Transit's, Granadas, Galaxies all the way through to Kas. Cheapskates.

Official change interval is 100K or 10 years.

For peace of mind though I would change it earlier say at 60K or 5 years max. Haven't, in my circles, heard of any premature failures a la Vauxhall Ecotec though.

Ford do a kit consisting of the belt and tesioner. Part No 1203767 currently retailing at £84.72 inc VAT. Book time on labour is 2.4 hours.
