You've forgotten to add that it's now on for an hour...:-)

I was just going to say "excellent, can't wait to see it", and then I realised that since i recently moved house, I no longer receive Channel 5.
Sort it out Llew Grade!
|
And the "win a car" comp. is back on. £1.00 to enter from yr. phone, or free if you register online at www.fivetv.com - it's a DB7 this week - yes please...

I may not see the programme, but I've just put my entry in for the Aston.
|
Its pretty easy when the answer is always 'a'. Even my 9 year old spotted the trend.
|
Ah, half hour program stretched out to an hour with twaddle.
|
I think they were trying to be TG without the laughs. Roll on November. (I was right about the competion answer though - the DB7 will look just right on my drive..)
|
So... they're an hour long and studio based now? With features that are more "entertainment on a motoring theme" than motoring journalism, you say? I wonder where they got that idea.
It's a shame they felt they had to change. Top Gear fills its niche very nicely, but Fifth Gear had its own niche to fill as well. Now it seems just like a second rate Top Gear.
Well... I won't rush to judge just yet. Give it a few more weeks.

Watched part of 5th gear.
Better than Top Gear, but still too much wheelspin.

That pretty much sums up my impression. Top Gear without the humour. There was even a lame comment about their track being better than a certain airfield track. The previous Fifth Gear was good because the journos did more than just drive fast in a fast car. But last night's programme was dull. And two of them kept reminding us that they had been racing drivers. Big deal. Get over it. Yawwwwwn.

It would look at least 1000 times more right on my drive....:-)

As expected, I missed it. Is it being repeated?
|
I did post that it was being repeated tonight at 11-55pm but it seems to have disappeared....

You didn't miss much HJ. Roll on TG's return. The S class wasn't featured (unless I nodded off at that point).
|
Going the way of 'Driven' me thinks!
|
Aaahhhh, remember that. That wasn't a bad programme really. I remember the 'Maxi adventure' parts of the series, where they took an ageing BL maxi to some interesting places like the arctic circle. Thought that was the best thing I?d seen on a programme like that for years.
As for 5th gear. Used to be great, with some interesting articles, and reviews of cars that I could relate to (i.e those I could afford). But after half an hour of last nights show, I turned my internet on, and came here instead.
I'll still tune in for the next episode, you know how it is, you can please some of the people some of the time.....

Agreed ! They also do a very good rendition of a poor-mans Top Gear ! With the lap time scenario, similar studio environment and largely pointless sideshow articles.
Isn't it a shame there isn't a car programme that actually tells us interesting stuff about real cars we might buy, whilst retaining the odd supercar review.
In short, what a waste of Vicky Butler-Henderson and Tiff Needell !
|
"In short, what a waste of Vicky Butler-Henderson and Tiff Needell !"
Correction
In short, what a waste of Vicky Butler-Henderson
and Tiff Needell ? all the man can do is power slide. He is a failed racing driver and an unispired presenter.

Did anyone else think that VBH isn't looking quite as lovely as she once did?
Driving better than ever, though.
|
Surely HJ himself must have contacts in the media industry?
|

You're not looking so lovely yourself. And turn off that webcam, you're putting me off my dinner.

Fine.

I wonder why nobody says that about Jeremy, Quentin etc.!

I turned it off about halfway through. When Plato was going on and on about flying the plane, I couldn't stand any more, I want motoring.
The bits in the studio were dire and I'm glad it's not my licence money going to buy schumaker's? old seat, what a waste.
|
After watching a few re-runs of some old 5th Gear episodes on Sky (Discovery Real Time), I have to agree with the majority here that the latest showing on Monday night, Channel 5, was dire.
