  Hi All, Would you be able to assist me with the folowwing problem please? It's a 2011 Renault Grand Scenic 1.5 dCi automatic. It drove perfectly prior to lock down. It’s been sitting  since the beginning of the first lockdown and has somehow developed an gearbox ECU issue in that time. The car powers up but we can’t get it to start because it thinks it’s in gear because of the ECU fault.

  My daughter is looking for a smallish (for parking) "traditional" automatic to buy for about £6k. She does quite a lot of long distance motorway drives, and currently has a 9 year old Toyota Yaris, which has been excellent. The second car will be for my use and are thinking of purchasing an automatic as a fair proportion of my driving is done in stop start driving, but would like to know if would be a wise choice to go for an automatic based on the following Journey to work: 15 miles(10 miles on twisty A Roads + 1 miles on dual carriageway + 4) miles in town Leisure 3000 miles a year (1500 on long journeys + 1500 on short pottering around journeys & jounreys of not more than 45 miles each way) Also is there a lot of difference between manaul and automatic fuel consumption, any car purchased will be between 5 to 7 years old with around 60000 to 80000 miles on the clock.

  Has anyone any experience of fitting automatic gate openers? I converted my garage door to a remote automatic system and now fancy having a go at the twin wrought iron gates at the end of my drive. I am not concerned about the security aspects as any unwelcome visitor could easily avoid the machine gun posts with their automatic line of sight firing.
