  Interested in Honda Prelude for sale privately, told its an import but with "parts cheaper on the net than with Honda dealers".Car is at What Car? trade price guide as opposed to private sale price,do you accept the reduced price and use the saving to allow for any future expense or do I avoid altogether?

  It would seem that a 12 to 18 month old vehicle is expensive in relation to a new one and the new engine is worth having. To avoid this typical Catch 22 I am considering importing one.   Hi, I'm looking into buying a mid 90's Toyota hiace, Japanese import in excellent condition and very low milage. Have heard that parts for them are getting difficult to come by. How can this be? Werent hiace made for 30 years and the country was crawling with them?  Anyone have any experience with these super reliable senior citizens!.

  Mines a 54 plate, and the difference in shape is obviously noticeable, also it is a different material, the supplier has specified it is important to select right head gasket, but mechanics saying its not important as long as the holes are in the same place, I am really concerned about this and would like somebody to advise me about the importance of the right head gasket part.

  What I should be aware of if want to purchase Japanese imports? I am thinking of Toyota Estima/Alphard, Nissan Elgrand or similar vehicle. I understand they are over 10 years old but banking on Japanese reliability. These are have all creature comforts and good base vehicle for campervan conversion later.

  Like the name of this thread states, is the colour of your car that important? Ok so buying 'kiss of death' dark blue will (apparently) lose you loads at trade in time but as for other colours is it really that important what shade your car is? I'm really not that bothered but after reading a car magazine article today even the psychologists are getting in a lather about it.

  However, the part they ordered did not fit - service guy called me and said it was because the car was an import and part was not applicable. I bought the car from them assured it was a UK car! Finally after 3 days and 3 parts delivered I should get my car fixed with MOT. But - how do I deal with the problem of buying a UK car at UK price, and finding out its an import?!

  18 months ago when i was considering importing a Saab 9-3 the official line from Saab Uk was that the car would not be registered on their computer and I would have diffiuculty in getting warranty work undertaken unless I could get a registered Saab dealer to put the car on the Saab network computer.
