Importing a BMW 3 Series - Tim Wood
My wife has decided that her years of devotion to myself and
the children justify a 3 series BMW for her next birthday
present!

It would seem that a 12 to 18 month old vehicle is expensive in
relation to a new one and the new engine is worth having. To avoid
this typical Catch 22 I am considering importing one.

Can anyone comment on the wisdom of this and suggest an agency
that will do it at a reasonable saving?

Re: Importing a BMW 3 Series - crazed
you could treat yourself to a weekend in dublin or cork and chat to the local dealer, he will have a ready supply of right hand drive cars (which euro dealers have to specially order) and figure out what exactly the spec differences would be

get virgin cars to send you whatever leaflets they have (but dont necessarily buy from them)

same from oneswoop

got any friends in belgium ?

etc etc

TVM. Useful info that i had not thought of.
I am beginning to feel that the old adage
regarding yachting applies - If you have to ask
the price you probably cannot afford one!

From first hand experience never pay the agent direct, always pay the deposit to the foreign dealer if you are using an import broker. Try the site importanewcar.com as this has links to many importers.

BMW prices go up on 1st May.

PLus increase in VAT? - Tim Wood
And there may well be a VAT increase in the next budget too!
I suppose the reason for high "prestige" prices is that they are
paid for by companies with OPM (Other peoples money!).
