MINI United 2012 to be at Le Castellet 16 Dec 2011 (News)
The international community growing up around the British small car brand is set to come together for the fourth running of a very special open-air festival. MINI has announced the date and venue for what is sure to be a spectacular event. MINI aficionados and music fans alike should set aside the weekend of 11 - 13 May 2012 in their diaries and programme the destination Le Castellet - or, more precisely, the Circuit Paul Ricard - in France into their sat-navs. -
Record Entry Expected for HRDC Final 15 Aug 2011 (News)
'Pocket Rocket GTs' is the nickname often applied to this competitive series. All cars in this series run engines under 1500cc, yet the race pace of these historic GTs is phenomenal. Like the pre-'60 touring cars, the HRDC 'Grand Touring Greats' Series has a great mix of marques and models: Sebring and Speedwell Sprites, one of the original Le Mans Healey prototypes, MG Midget-based Lenhams, Ashleys and WSMs, plus Tornado Talisman, GSM Delta, Rochdale Olympic, Lotus Elite - they are all here. -
Next Nissan Qashqai to be designed, engineered and built in Britain 8 Jun 2011 (News)
Late rthis month it will produce the one millionth Qashqai and more than 80 per cent of current production is exported to 97 markets worldwide. The production line in Sunderland has been running around the clock for more than a year to meet global demand, producing an average of 1,200 Qashqais per day. Each Qashqai produced has 3,779 parts, of which 83.6% come from one of 224 UK suppliers. -
Mazda MX-5 GT Improved for Thruxton on 11th/12th June 5 Jun 2011 (News)
“Thruxton will be the fourth race of the Britcar Dunlop Production GTN Championship race series, with just three races run, the Mazda MX-5 GT car has secured second in its class in the championship and fourth overall. This is testament to its bullet proof reliability, nimble handling and lightweight. Fun Packed Charity Event at Goodwood on 5th July 13 Apr 2011 (News)
Founder Jenny Baker-Carr (whose previous charity events have raised around £35,000) says that, by running this event just two days after the Goodwood Festival of Speed, she hopes the event will benefit from a healthy uptake of cars and people prepared to stay on to support this most worthy event. As in previous events, there will be plenty off-circuit entertainment in support of the usual track activity. -
Ford Offers LCV Scrappage Scheme to Ease the Pain of Meeting LEZ 5 Apr 2011 (News)
The Mayor, said: "I am delighted that Ford is being so supportive with its commercial vehicle scrappage scheme, allowing Londoners to trade up their vehicles to new, cleaner models. It is particularly pleasing that vans running on engines made locally in the capital are part of this package. Ford's commitment as market leader is a fantastic contribution to my goal of a less polluted London with a great quality of life." The LEZ initiative was introduced in 2008 to encourage the most polluting vehicle drivers in the capital, to become cleaner. -
Supermarket giant enters the used car market 4 Apr 2011 (News)
The new Tesco site is essentially a re-brand of carsite.co.uk, which is now defucnt. In the run-up to the launch of Tescocars.com, carsite.co.uk initially removed its entire stock and later took the website offline for "maintenance". Tesco says that it aims to give buyers a brand new online service giving direct access to thousands of 'great value', well maintained, independently checked used cars, without the hassle, stress or sales pressure typically associated with the industry. -

3000HP Vauxhall Victor to Star in Festival Event 11 Aug 2010 (News)

Peugeot Mobility System Removes Need to Own a Car 5 Jul 2010 (News)

“We benefited from the scheme taking more than our fair share of the scrappage market, but it did discriminate against anyone who did not have a 10 year old car to scrap. “Now that the Government scrappage fund has run out many manufacturers have launched their own version of the scrappage scheme. In fact, there are now so many different offers with different terms and conditions, some on 10 year old cars and some on seven year old cars, that choosing the best scheme is both difficult and confusing for the customer and requires a car to part exchange or scrap. -

Hyundai Runaway Leader in Scrappage Sales 22 Jul 2009 (News)
Hyundai’s managing director, Tony Whitehorn, said: “It’s crucial that we get the cars out to buyers as soon as possible, and not only because the customers want their nice new car. The government funds are fast running out, and we want to make sure Hyundai buyers can secure their slice of the scrappage handout before the scheme ends.” The i20 supermini has secured nearly 5,000 orders, as buyers baulk at the massive price increases loaded on by rivals in the past few months.
