Record Grid For Jaguar E Type Race at Silverstone Classic 27 May 2011 (News)
The new-for-2011 series is managed by the Historic Sports Car Club in conjunction with Jaguar Heritage and is supported by JD Classics. It is open to cars in strict period specification running in two classes; cars prepared to a period race trim and standard cars. “Our aim is to start a maximum grid of 58 cars at Silverstone,” said Grahame White of the HSCC. “We are absolutely delighted with the response and the race on Saturday evening will be very special.” -

Thanks to Toyota innovation, the new third-generation Prius comes equipped with three selectable “on-demand” driving modes that let the driver make the most of different driving conditions. These include an EV (electric vehicle) mode that allows the car to run for certain distances purely on electric power, cutting fuel consumption and emissions to zero. Ideal for slow moving urban traffic, it’s a function that can only be enjoyed with a full hybrid system such as Prius’s Hybrid Synergy Drive; EV operation is not possible with the mild hybrid systems featured in some rival models. -

The 24k mile 1974 Pontiac Grandville convertible I tipped as star of the show was in spectacular condition; almost good as new. But it didn’t raise the expected money, running out of bids at £7,600. If had had the womba or the space I’d have been wallowing in it. BCA’s star car, a beautifully restored 1988F Cortina 1600E in a shade of red no 1600E was ever originally painted sold for the estimated £8,800. -
