Subaru Forester (1997 - 2002) - 00 2.0T- Removal of alternator S fuse with ign on. 24 Aug 2008 (Forum)
During some wiring fault tracing I inadvertently removed the underbonnet 10A "ALT/S" fuse which probably not a good idea when the ignition was on altho' engine not running. On replacing same there was a distinct click from I think the boost solenoid control area . Car seems to be running ok and no CEL's but for my future general knowledge is there a capacitator or similar in the alternator which could cause a surge of current when removing/replacing the said fuse which could damage the ecu or other components particularly if the ignition is on? -

I have been having problems with the engine running a little hot.I know the fan temp switch has gone because the previous owner has fitted a manual switch inside the car to turn on/off the fan.I have found that normal day running if i keep the car heater on and heater fan on number 2 the engine temp will stay midway on temp gauge, but as soon as i turn off car heater the engine temp will start to rise up towards 100oC where i can turn the fan on manually.Any suggestions please. -

BMW 7-Series E38 (1994 - 2001) - 97 2.8 starting problem 5 May 2008 (Forum)
When you go to start the car, you get no red lights on dash or fuel pump whurr. It only starts off a jump, but when you turn it off after a short or long run it refuses to start. Also when the engine is running there is a clicking from behind the air vents above the stereo every so often. We've checked the battery and thats fine so dont know where to go from here. -

Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 1.4 petrol - electrical faults 25 Jan 2008 (Forum)
i have a Peugeot 306 lx t-reg it starts ok. if it's running while parked or i'm reversing there is no problem but as soon as i drive forwards all the electrics go, the dials go up and down the led display goes haywire then the engine cuts out also now the central locking does'nt work either i tried the battery terminals they were fine, i cleaned the points on the earthwire, still no joy. it's now becoming a pain. could it be the battery itself. it does seem to die quite quickly if the car ain't running. -

I recently bought a Citroen C3, 2003, and all has been running fine. Went to top up the oil and on taking the cap off found that I couldn't. The reason being that underneath the cap, within the circumference below the cap, was a sort of up-side-down "T", which was quite chunky. -

Very slow starting Bedford Turbo lorry 5 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I have a Bedford Turbo horse lorry. B reg, SH suggests it has been cared for. It runs no more than once a week, sometimes less, and is very slow to start. It has a new 95Ah battery but that does not have enough reserve to run the starter for the time it takes, so I have an older but serviceable 110 Ah battery that I charge and connect using jump leads. -
citroen xsara heater flap motor!!! 26 May 2006 (Forum)
hi have checked forums on this subject and am unable to find info i seek.according to my local dealer i have a tempremental heater flap motor.this means when i set temp control knob the motor is suppose to keep set temp.at moment it is highly erratic goes from freezing to sauna all by its self.first how do i check this motor for a fault and if faulty how easy to change.any info will be gratefully received.the xsara is a 1.6 8 valve forte model on a 'w' plate.otherwise it is a nice comfortable car to drive and is proving economical to run 40mpg commuting and 45 mpg on a long run. -
Corsa 1.4 - Foam in oil filler 22 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Some sites list posible cause as HGF ! ! ! Car has done less than 3k in 18 months and generally on short runs (2 miles). BTW - Did oil change on my sons 1.0 a couple of weeks ago and none in that (its runs are generally 10-12 miles when it is used. -
