  • Charge by length to cut emissions 6 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Laugh....I nearly did: http://tinyurl.com/2euwga So my 15 year old Escort could be charged less than my brand new Volvo V50 estate. I know which one I would rather have in a "green" comparison. What the heck has length got to do with it? Last one out, turn off the lights....
  • Car windscreen smears AGHHH!!! 6 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Hi there, I have recently put my volvo s60 through the car wash, it had the full treatment, wash wax etc. Now every time i use the widscreen wipers, there is like a film of wax on my windscreen, I have tried, screenwash, widowlene, turps.
  • Accord - spare wheel 27 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I'm thinking of replacing my Volvo V70 and have had a look at a Honda Accord Tourer. Impressed with the car but not the lack of any spare wheel - all you get is a can of sealant and a compressor. It is apparently possible to get a space saver spare but I'd prefer a proper one.
  • Can you compare these 4x4's ? 29 Nov 2021 (Forum)

  • Volvoxc60 - Warranty 22 Jun 2021 (Forum)
Got it home and noticed a very slight flaw in the stitching on the leather dashboard. I’ve highlighted to the dealer who passed it to there warranty department. Volvo uk want to inspect it via a dealer in order to establish what has caused it. Call me sceptical but I think they think I have caused it . Does anyone have thoughts on the matter on how to handle the situation.
  • Most remembered car tv advert 11 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Is it the Mini Metros being driven off the boats at the South coast? The Fiat Strada being built by robots? Volvos being driven through windows by crash test dummies or the Citreon BX being eaten by a mechanical Grace Jones? What one sticks out for you?
  • All - Best cars for the long term 21 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I intend to keep my cars for a few years now I'm retired..well almost. I have a 2008. Volvo v 70 and a 2012 250 SLK both of which we've had for 4 plus years. There are posts detailing quite young cars with major problems so what do members consider the best bets for long term ownership?
  • Diesel problems 23 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Having had diesels for years with little in the way of engine problems except for a before mentioned injector which was a pig to get out (Volvo V70) My 3 Mercs have been ok engine wise and the present V70 on 120,000k has been also fine. There is much criticism of diesels on the forum and wondered what problems people have had with  their diesels.
  • All - Engine size 9 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I had a Volvo XC90 as a loan car and was surprised that the engine was only a 2 litres diesel. For such a big car it went quite well. Lots of large cars seem to have smallish engines, Merc E class 220 for example, one I had a ride in had 335k on the clock so it's lasted well.
  • Not - Changing the car! 12 Jul 2014 (Forum)
Havng taken the advice of The forum, (thanks to all) and really looked at Volvos, and tried a few, with a very good dealer without obligation, ( I said I wanted up to 1 year old petrol), was allowed  a drive in a diesel s40, and an s60. Gave details for the future should they have a rare petrol version available will get in contact.
  • Citroen - Rear Park Assist 11 May 2012 (Forum)
I recently bought a 2009 Volvo S40 from a Citroen main agent. At my request, and cost, they fitted (Citroen) Rear Park Assist. The sound is almost inaudible. This I discovered only at home, at some considerable distance from the supplier.
  • Impress our car uninterested Son - How do Audi do it? 5 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Cos Skoda failed, Mini failed, despite the nightclub effect showroom, Volvo then failed, Suziki also failed. But boy o boy when he sat in the wee A1 Audi .........................he was genuninely smitten. But I did not see anything particularly different about it, though this was perhaps bearing in mind the price premium.
  • Best new car for rear passengers? 14 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Greetings all, the MD has to change his company 2006 Volvo S80 2.5T auto for a new car and can spend 32k on a new one. His requirements are: petrol only, mostly city driving, excellent rear seat space and comfort (as this is where he sits!)
  • Citroen - 'Orrible lights on a citrowen. 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I followes a cirtroen for a while tonight. Strange backside, like an old Volvo estate stretched vertically by about a foot. Normal brake lamps, odd-looking lamps up the "pillars", and when the brakes applied a fat line of red along the whole roof line, side to side. Most 'orrible and distracting, complete overkill, hard to see anything else further in front.
  • Recommend a Fiesta/Focus Sized Car 3 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I need a car for mainly town use, but it must have the following characteristics: As comfortable as a Volvo Automatic Fiesta-Focus size Well built and reliable I'm not too constrained by budget, don't care for diesel as low mileage, and will buy second-hand. Anyone got any ideas? {Thread title amended so people have an idea what it's about.
  • Cars that will go on for ever? 27 May 2007 (Forum)
Which cars are simple to maintain, have relatively inexpensive parts and have an almost indefinite life expectancy (if properly maintained)? I was thinking Morris Minor and maybe Volvo 240 series (although parts may be pricey).
  • AMG Mercedes Thoughts 2 Apr 2007 (Forum)
My brother in law just came over in his new car. He traded his 1990 Volvo for a 1999 AMG Mercedes C Class with 81,000 on the clock. He paid $14,000 which as my wife pointed out is only $2000 more than I paid for my 2004 Taurus. Seems like amazing value to me although I imagine servicing it's going to cost a packet.
  • New car, incorrect V5 document... 6 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Picked up a brand new Volvo V50 last month. 10 days later (after I've gone away for 2 weeks) the V5 document arrives in the post: they've logged the car as a V70! Guess I simply need to send the amended doc back to Swansea...
  • PunctureGuard 2 Aug 2006 (Forum)
They apparently have a facility whereby 4 tyres are injected for around £35 preventing any punctures of around 9mm becoming a problem. This would be a major advantage for my `98 Volvo V70 XC to have. Punctures are a BIG isssue for this particular vehicle and £35 is a very small price to pay. Check out http://www.tyres-online.co.uk/archives/prodnov01.asp It seems they are for the trade.
