  • 2 parking tickets for the same offence in 24 hrs. 23 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I checked the sign near the car and discovered that I actually had to walk onto the pavement to view it as it was not visible from the road, the sign said Mon-Sun so unfortunately the Council would have been within their right to give me a ticket. Anyway I packed my car and left, just as I was about to leave a tow truck came so I consider myself very lucky not to have been towed away too. However I got home and looked at the ticket and as I pulled it from the pouch I discovered that there were actually 2 of them, one is dated the 19th and is for 17.54- 18.00 the other is for the 20th and is from 9.28 - 9.34.

  • Chrysler Voyager (1997 - 2001) - 2000 2.5 immobiliser problems 23 Sep 2009 (Forum)
vOYGER W PLATE 2000 {Correct year amended in subject header} Got the immobiliser concerns like most on forum with my voyger happens about 4 times this year but getting worse and wife will not take kids out in it in fear of it not starting. 1/ Alarm light stops on flashing and beeping - all other clocks ect seem to be ok except once rev counter failed but ok now? 2/ RAC spent 2 hours at roadside no luck- towed her home 120 miles then started once rolled off truck ? 3/ Same thing again so then towed to auto sparky - but started next morning fine? 4/ Taken to crysler today and ecu had stored code of fault on transponder but they say transponder checked out ok and can not do anything untill code is active- got new key and fob on order as they suggested this may be the problem as we only have one set and key is worn(so need a spare anyway £200) they also say that should think about replacing the screem module if still not fixed with new key ?

  • Chrysler Voyager (1997 - 2001) - 98 3.3 problems starting car 28 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Normally if you go back to the car the next morning it will start but this time it was out of action for 3 days and we had to be towed home from the Isle of Wight by 5 different tow trucks the next morning she started first time. this problem has been ongoing over the past couple of years and we are at a loss of what to do. The main dealer said they couldn't dianose a fault then charged me £100 for the privilage they told me to take it back whilst fault is occurring but obviously cannot as it will not start if fault is occurring and then said well if the car isn't running they wouldn't be able to put it on the diagnostic machine anyway. we had a new switch for the gearbox fitted last year and thought the problem had been solved but it has restarted and is getting more frequent. many people have suggested the problem could be the immobilser but were told we could not by-pass it.
  • Alfa 156 1.8 Cam belt & big end failure 1 Aug 2007 (Forum)
A friend who has a garage ( very well respected!!)has had a 156 1.8 twin spark in his workshop. He got in towed in,as the cam belt failed. He had to get the head overhauled due to piston contact. The owner said that she was driving at 15mph when it went. The head was re-installed and new belts and tensioners.3 weeks later it gets towed back in with the big ends knocking. He spoke to the local Alfa garage they said it was common with people who don't check oil levels enough and they run dry. This has we believe been compounded by the higher compression of a rebuilt 60k head with new valves and seats etc. They had rebuilt the bottom ends on 3 cars in the last 6 months.Apparently they are strong bottom ends and can just have the shells replaced. My mate replaced the shells on the bottom end and replaced the sump. The car ran for 3 weeks and again the number 3 big end went again. The journal was fine on both visuals and number 4 is last in line and is fine too.The next issue is the owner, obviously not happy and threatening legal action, claiming that she had spoken to 2 or 3 garages (possibly main dealers) who claim to change all the bottom end shells on a head job!!!!.
  • Kia Cee'd - I liked it 3 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I'll wait for the estate which is to come later this year with the option of a 2.0 diesel. Our vicar has a Sportage 2.0 dlesel and says it's very well soundproofed (incldentally he tows a caravan and the Kia is the best towing car he's ever had).
  • 2003 Mondeo Diesel dropping revs 25 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I'm pretty useless when it comes to understanding diesel engines, so I hope somebody may have some ideas to help me. I bought this car 6 months ago as a tow car with 126,00 miles and FSH, but there are a number of points that are a nuisance/worry and I really can't afford the expense of toddling off to garages without some understanding under my belt.
