  • Any - Main Dealer Horror Stories 13 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I have been chatting to the guy at a local independant garage, who told me that the absolute worst car to buy is an ex lease car. He has seen plenty of Audis and VWs where they are on long life servicing, so only 4 oil changes in 75 K miles over 3 years, and quite often they still have the ORIGINAL oil and air filters, the oilways are full of black gunge and to him it is very obvious that they supposed Full main Dealer history counts for nothing, as these main dealers regularly fail to perform many of the items that they should.
  • MK1 FORD FIESTA - MK1 FIESTA RUNNING PROBLEM 16 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Hi, i have a Mk1 fiesta 1981 1.1L, the problem is:  when i start my car and drive away from cold it will pull away lovely with just a touch on the accelerator, the pedal feels nice and light and responsive and the car revs freely and pulls along lovely, then as the car warms up it seems to bog down and needs to be revved harder just to get it to pull, and feels like i only want to use a light acceleration and change up as soon as i can because it seems to be killing it if i try and drag each gear out. I have changed the points, rotor arm, leads, dizzy cap, plugs, condensor, air filter, oil and oil filter, set the dwell angle with a dwell meter, set the timing but it still wont play ball, i am convinced it's once the car is warmed up that is causing the problem.

  • FIAT Panda (2003 - ) - 2006 1243cc OBD code readers 23 Feb 2008 (Forum)
As such it only has 2 years manufacturer warranty, the 3rd is dealer which is not included in my case. Had the first year warranty done, which was a visual check and an oil change, was a bit expensive for really no work. I'm reasonably handy DIY and can change oil, plugs, filters, brakes etc, as such I intend doing my own service every 6 months. I will need something to reset the service indicator light, EBAY has lots of tools like this U581 code reader which claims to work on FIAT digital CAN systems and can reset faults and read fault codes.

  • '93 Polo 1.0 - Hesitation under throttle 28 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Hello, I wonder if someone can help me with a problem I am having with my VW Polo (L-Reg, 1993, 1.05cc, Petrol Engine): When driving from cold my car hesitates when accelerating, it almost stalls, however it's fine after driving for 5-10 minutes or so when it's warmed up. This is what I have tried: New Cat, Lambda Sensor, New Oil Filter (and Oil Change), Air Filter, Petrol Filter, New Spark Plugs and Leads, New Distributor Cap, and I have put Wynns Injector Cleaner in my Petrol. I've also had other things replaced recently (which shouldn't affect this problem) such as Brake Pads, Discs, New handbrake cable and a whole new exhaust pipe.
  • missed service 3 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I phoned the garage where the car was originally registered and they have no trace of a service on their computor or on the manufacturers computer. I took the car back to the (non main dealer)cardealer and they say they will change the oil and filter. Problem is of course its next service is due in a couple of months and it is still missing a service stamp. What is the point of changing the oil when the service is due anyway?

  • BMW cylinder bore wear 10 Apr 2001 (Forum)
The Data plate gives a manufacturing date of Nov 98.It has covered 52000 miles and drives like a dream.(previous owner known to us). The Auto Box would seem to be sealed for life with no provision for oil changes. Would it be prudent to get a dealer or specialist to change it.
