  • Citroen C4 - Citroen C4 - Anti Theft / Engine won't crank 16 Feb 2022 (Forum)
My partner inherited a bit of an untidy Citroen C4, 1.6 diesel 08. No problems for the first two months, then when my partner was away for the weekend she was under the impression that the battery was flat as it wouldn't start. She tried jump leads, but that didn't work, but a friendly person with some break experience got it started.
  • The Vauxhall vs Citroen Vs Peugeot conundrum 17 Dec 2020 (Forum)
Of all 3 models, the base specs are near identical (although to confuse matters Peugeot seem to have pulled the base spec Active trim in the UK but there is a handful left in dealer stock). The Vauxhall is the cheapest from a broker, the Citroen £380 more and the Peugeot some £1300 more direct from a dealer (in metallic, no solid colour left) than the Vauxhall. After all that, the question is - why go for the Citroen or Peugeot? Will a Citroen or Peugeot badge hold their value better?
  • Citroen C4 Coupe (2005) - Citroen C4 2005 - Known Issue? 19 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I have a Citroen C4  Coupe, 1.6Hdi (diesel), 5 years old with 27,000 miles on the clock.  Very low mileage , serviced regularly and driven carefully.  I noticed the clutch slipping a couple of months ago and as it was due for a service I asked the guy to check the clutch which he did and said it was a little worn but should be ok in the meantime.

  • Citroen DS3 - Camshaft snapped! Who is liable, myself or dealer? 17 Jun 2017 (Forum)
I purchased a used 2013 citroen ds3 1.6 hdi from a large franchise dealer and after 8 months the camshaft snapped! They have had the car in their garage for 3 months now and have said it was oil starvation that caused it to snap (this I do not dispute), they have also stated that this was not down to my negligence as I have serviced as scheduled and always checked the oil is at the correct level and admitted this was not standard wear and tear.
  • Citroen Xsara Picasso, Renault scenic - buying mpv with £2500 budget 18 Feb 2016 (Forum)
My x reg scenic has just suffered a broken cam belt, I have always liked the car especially the sitting position and height. I have just seen a lovely Citroen xsara picasso 1.6, 06 reg around 60000 miles petrol, 7 service stamps, my budget is £2500 which is the asking price, however it hasn't had a new cam belt, which would be due, the seller will not drop the price but has offered to do cam belt at trade which he says will be around £300, making the car £2800, is it worth it or are there other alternatives?
  • Citroen C5 Estate 2.2 HDi (2001) - 'Tailgate open' warning 23 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I've had this car since it was 6 months old and it's actually been amazingly good apart from odd Citroen-style electrical niggles. The current one is driving me mad: it often detects an open tailgate, even when it is definitely shut, and sounds the warning alarm. This can go on pretty much continuously for a long time, leaving me as a dribbling wreck.
  • Citroen xsara picasso - No glowplug light 23 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Hi guys I have a 2006 citroen xsara picasso 1.6hdi desire 92, 74000 miles. The first 2 years of ownership was fine, then i noticed the heaterplug light was just staying on for a split second when turning the ignition on, (it used to stay on for around 4/5 secs) At the same time the car began getting harder to start and when it does start i'm getting a fair bit of smoke from the exhaust, this didn't happen before.

  • Xara Picasso - Citroen Diesel Poor Starting 19 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi Gurus, really appreciate some thoughts out there. My baby is an 04 Citroen Picasso 2.0 hdi diesel. Ive had her since 2007 and she's done 59000 miles. She has always started first time no problems but  when it was really cold a couple of years ago she took 3 or 4 turns (each about 10/15 seconds) of the engine to get her going, car seems smooth enough though once going.

  • Citroen C3 - Ripped off by approved dealer 27 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I had my car towed into a Citroen Approved repairer  I was told that the cambelt had slipped and that I would need the cylinder head reworked new valves etc and a new injector as one was damaged I was told the total cost would be £2300 plus VAT I asked if the bottom end of the engine was damaged and was told No    seven weeks later the dealer still has the car have been testing it bits and pieces and the removed the head again to say oh there is a problem with the block and pistons and have qutoed me £1800 plus vat and labour to fix this problem  What should I do the car is not worth £5k And why did the garge not pick up the bottom end damage on first inspection as I would of just gone out and either scapped the car or brought a recon engine  Many thanks for your advice in advance
  • Citroen C4 - Cam belt 14 Dec 2010 (Forum)
My questions are: 1) Are there  any other reports of this sort of thing happening with other c4s of this age? 2) The dealer won't agree to assist me with any of the cost. Is it worth contacting Citroen UK to see if they would do anything?   I just feel that in a car where the Cam belt is not scheduled to be changed for ages it is very poor that this should happen Any Info you can give me would be much appreciated   Thanks in advance alf dazed
  • 2003 Ciroen Belingo 2L HDI - Diesel glow plug light and pre heat 14 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I have owned the car for 6 years and the light has always illuminated, even when warm for a split second up untill a month ago. The Citroen hand book also states that the glow plug light will illuminate in warm conditions for a split second. I have fitted a new pre heat relay box and Citroen have fitted a new temperature sensor, but the light and glow plugs will not pre heat.
  • Citroen C3 - engine warning light in rain 12 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I took it to another garage who read it and the reader said it was either an air flow problem or injector problem. My question is, has anyone ever had problems with citroen c3 engines in the rain/after rain, or is this just a coincidence? Also the second garage said the catalytic converter problem was probably just temporary due to the misfire. Any advice/experiences anyone could share would be appreciated!
  • Citroen Synergie - Synergie fault codes 27 Apr 2010 (Forum)
After having no problems whatsoever, out of the blue my 2000, 157000mile Citroen Synergie 1.9hdi failed to start. It was diagnosed as a fuel pump problem and it was replaced. Afterwards the idling was lumpy but the car went ok for about 30miles. It then died in mid journey but after switching the ignition off, it started again, drove ok but the engine management light came on.
