Computer interface for Fiat Ulysse 2.0 J 15 May 2005 (Forum)
I have always done all my own servicing and repairs on my vehicules but this is the first car I've owned that has ECU management system. I don't want to have to go to a Fiat agent if ever a warning light should come up and am therefore thinking of trying to get hold of an interface so that I can plug in the OBD2 port to my laptop. -

Octavia TDI loss of power 11 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Would the car have gone into limp home mode, having sensed a problem? If so, how do i get it out of limp home? Do i need to reboot the ECU (like i would know how to do that!)? Or is it more likely that in changing the cambelt, something has got dislodged or forgotten to be put back on? Or is it the usual MAF sensor problem and a coincidence? -
Fitting Intercooler to Pug 306 HDi 90 27 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Is it possible, sensible and easy to take the larger turbo and intercooler off a scrapped 406 110bhp and fit it to my 90? Would this produce the extra to satisfy my needs? What would this do to the ECU? Would the programming in it need to be changed/remapped. Any thoughts or comments greatly appreciated. Simon -
Your most/least reliable car 16 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Finally, clouds of blue smoke was diagnosed as indicating expensive valve wear problems and I got rid of it for £600. Most annoyingly, whenever the battery was disconnected the ECU settings were lost and had to be reset (no battery back-up) by the dealer ! Most reliable car owned - a 1984 Nissan Cherry :-( which was horrible to drive but never let me down and needed only the annual service during the 3 years I owned it. -
Primera - Persistent Engine Fault 29 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I have had the thing investigated by dealers, main distributors and Nissan HQ, and also on their advice repalced the ICV without success. It may be that the ECU is next, but diagnosis by component replacement is expensive and is anyway approaching the residual value of the car, which I cannot in honesty sell on while the fault remains. Has any kind person some experience of this? -
Peugeot 406 errant revs. 6 Aug 2003 (Forum)
The previous owner had occasional trouble with the engine revs cycling and engine slow to rev down when foot off throttle. The local agent ran a diagnostic check which reported no faults but he did clean contacts on the ecu (quote). This cured it 'til the next time. Back to the agent same result with disappearance of fault. It has now happened to me. Pulled up, into neutral, foot off, engine did 3 or 4 cycles between (approx.) 1500 and 2500 rpm then settled down and now seems ok. -
Vectra engine cooling problem ? 17 Apr 2003 (Forum)
At a halt, with the engine idling, the needle oscillates slowly between nothing and about 25%. I don't seem to be losing cooling fluid, and the ECU light is not illuminated. Any wisdom gratefully received. Robbo -
Vauxhall corsa S Ecoflex - Car turning just not starting 28 Jun 2020 (Forum)
That didn't fix the issue and they put my old parts back in (I thought I had an exetended warranty but it ran out last week) So went to pick my car up and get the keys to get it moved back home and the guy said it could be the ecu or timing chain. The guy that came out to take it back home did a diagnosis and nothing was showing, the ecu was showing as fine. He also reckons it's skipped a tooth or something and reckons it's needs a new timing chain or if not that new head cylinder. -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 06 1.6HDI FAP DPF Removal Experiment 16 May 2010 (Forum)
I don't really want to cut out the honeycomb filter element inside the DPF, it is too valuable an item for that I think. Some questions I have no answers for yet, is what the ECU will do when the EOLYS fluid tank runs empty. Maybe I should try removing the magnet sensor in the fuel flap, to stop the EOLYS dosing taking place each time I fill up. Any comments would be appreciated. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 2.0 HDI With Zero acceleration 9 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I started the car up one day and it was fine, then drove it 10 meters slowly in a car park and the engine tone changed. I put my foot down to accelerate and it had no power then the ecu warning light came on. It starts and revs when stopped perfectly. It is only when the engine is under any load it just won't rev. It is like the throttle is only open a little or it's not getting any fuel. -
End of Life Vehicles - Lost opportunity? 1 Jan 2003 (Forum)
The going rate for a popular engine of gearbox fit for reconditioning is around £10 to £20. That's how much I received for my scrapped Talbot Horizon engine 10 years ago. ECUs etc are another story. My faulty ABS ECU for my Xantia was worth £60 to a reconditioner. He complained that he couldn't get enough of them to satisfy demand! Oh, and did I mention those items that people would want to buy from breakers - body panels, servicable components etc? -

Clio 1.2 2007 - Clio 1.2 2007 high revs - advice needed 11 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Diagnostics showing weird errors such as ABS fault, brake light fault. Auto electrician suggest that faulty throttle body unit may have damaged ECU or Body control module. He suggests couple of companies local to me that may be able to reprogram these units to clear issues? Then reading on here someone was saying it could be HASS MAP any help would be gratefully received, as unfortunately mums money tree is wilting :) -
ford focus mk1 1600 - low /poor idle ONLY when a/c is on 22 Oct 2017 (Forum)
got a problem thats getting on my wits now 1600 ford focus mk1 , idles like you would expect apart from when the a/c is on it is say 50 revs too slow and the car starts to shake and shudder ive replaced idle valve , vac pipe , pcv valve , cleaned the throttle body , reset the ecu by disconecting it , and had it into to ford for them to reset the keep alive memory(kam) on thier suggestion never had any codes or warning lights ive also noted if you idle the car then turn the a/c on it will sit and idle smooth until you rev the car again , then the revs will dip way to low and the isv im guessing catches it and stops it stalling but then back to a low unhappy idle the idle is happy with all other elecs like the heated screens /headlamps full on etc -

Ford Kuga - OBD port Issue 23 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Now my predicament is, since the Mot, the obd port does not work as it should. The power led on the reader lights up but it will not communicate with the ECU, my friend tried his reader with the same results. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? -
renault megane II 2008 sedan - renault megane II 2008 sedan starting problem 7 Aug 2014 (Forum)
When i got the car he told me that the instrument does not work and the start does not start. since i am a bit technical i started troubleshooting the vehicle. the cluster is still not displaying, the watch was not displaying but now does after i have removed engine fusebox, ecu, bsi under dash, and made sure that all fuses are not blown and also relays are still ok. what i have realized is the card reader & start button does not have power when i use my test light. the car does not start & the warning light on the instrument panel flashes all the time. sometimes the windows works somtimes they don't. the card locks some doors not all. your help will be highly appreciated. -
Ford Focus 1.8 Diesel TDCi 2004 - Coil light flashes bad starter 6 Feb 2014 (Forum)
have had injectors tested, changed filters, cleaned EGR. I have an F-super 2 diagnostic but it doesn't recognise my ECU, I have tracked the unit and it is a standard Ford unit although seems to be 2002 spec, I have a feeling these late 2004 models were a collection of old bits before they changed engines the following year.Have looked at some of the sensors but nothing obvious.
