  There is a floor mounted vent under the seat, presumably part of the heating/air con system, but looking under the car it all seems to be quite well sealed with no cuts or bits missing. The door seals are in good condition and no sign of water from that area. Any ideas please?

  I have replaced the battery aswell. This is costing a fortune in parts and code readings. The car is driving fine. The other warning is engine temp is high and the gauge goes of the scale but it's not over heating. I can start the car sometimes with no warnings. Please help

  My heater blower intermittently fails to work and when it fails, it's when first starting the car. When this happens, it comes to life after about half a mile. This first used to happen last summer after leaving the car parked in hot sun. It's now happening in the winter usually after I've left the car after having had the heater on.

  It would then start up working again but still making the same noises and eventually stopped working altogether. I still get heat into the car once its been running for about 15mins but as you can imagine in the cold weather its causing a real problem keeping the screen clear. Can this be repaired easily by an amateur? Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    I so often see drivers of all types on mobile phones while driving, and just yesterday saw a young lady drive into the back of the car in front very very slowly as she was looking at her passenger as she talked to her. oblivious to the car in front stopping at a roundabout . there was no damage and nobody got upset and the car in front that was hit actually drove off....

  I contacted the mechanic and he told me to leave it for an hour and try to move car then. The car did move but I returned it to the mechanic next morning for him to check out. After running it at various times over a week he did not experience the problem and I took the car back. When I returned home the car drove fine.

• Ford Transit - Speed Limiter 8 Jun 2025 (Forum)
  Cruise control in my car sometimes can't maintain the speed going downhill. Can anyone explain how Ford's limiter works? Like I say, I'm asking out of genuine interest (because I'm a geek!). We previously had Sprinters, and they were exactly the same with regards to sticking exactly to 62 MPH.

  Hi, just picked up a new Dacia sandero Stepway today and checking over the paperwork I notice that there is reference to both a Chassis number and a VIN number, both of which are the same. The number correspomds to the one on the car, just behind the windscreen on the drivers side, but it looks unlike any VIN I've seen before. Whereas the others I've seen have have had a mixture of letters and numbers spread across them this one only has 3 letters and they are all in the first four characters, the rest is just numbers.There should as far as I am aware be a letter for model and year of manufacture in there somewhere but apart from UU at the start, which I believe is the letter code for Romania there is only one other letter ( letter B in position 4).

  Early last year I noticed the problem, it was just every once in a blue moon, sometimes just driving the car a bit would allow the hood to open. Now, it refuses to open more often than not. It goes up a few inches off the windscreen, then the motor stops, as if the hood is too heavy. However, I notice in colder weather the hood WILL open (just my luck, eh?!?!)

  People drive along with these things suckered to their screen, often in such a way that must obscure their view (especially in small cars with small windscreens) plus the fact that often when I am sat in stationary traffic I see that the screens seem to change as if in a 'screen saver' mode. (I dont have one, I use maps!) Surely this cant be good for concentration?!!

  When using the air con or not I have a smell emitting from the air system, sometimes the windscreen steams up. My local garage has advised me that the cost for this is around £100.00, this indicates to me that this is a relatively small job and possible within my capability? I have read articles on this web site and advice given has not sorted the problem out, and by the way it is the best web site to date that I have found for car related problems.

  A little advice needed. Someone recently parked my car in an airport carpark. Despite the signs being quite clear, the driver didn?t see them at 5 am and left the car parked in what turned out to be a 10 minute bay for three days. In (weak) mitigation, a whole line of cars had tickets for having done the same thing, so clearly a common error.

  I feel that the alternator was the cause of most of her woes and that is now fixed - there is no reason why the car shouldn't be 100% reliable. Any thoughts? I did suggest she seriously looks at new cars that may give a low to 0% apr and free insurance for the first year. She is 19 years old. Any thoughts?

  Certainly think it is a vastly underrated and ignored car, especially as compared to my friends same age Golf TDi, the Citroen has less interior rattles. Certainly think is the best car yet I have bought through Joe. The Escort is immaculate inside and out.

  I live in a suburban area with my Focus parked off-road overnight. This morning when I went out to get in the car I noticed some small pieces of black rubber, about half an inch across, lying just in front of the front wheel. On inspection I realised they had come from the end of the " rubber " strip along the bottom of the front valance, where there were what looked like teeth marks.

  [endif]--> One year ago I crossed a 2ft deep river and a few months later my car has developed a few noises. One of these noises is a high and low pitch humming (oscillated noise) in the range of 35-60 mph. Before and after this range the noise cannot be heard. I must said that after the river crossing   the right front wheel bearing cracked and it   had to be replaced together with the front left wheel bearing.

  When I switch the air con on I can hear a fan runnng, can hear it a bit in the car but its a lot louder outside the car, its coming from the front of the engine near the front grill. I am assuming this is the fan in front of the radiator. When I switch the aircon off after about 30 seconds the engine revs decrease and the fan switches off.

  It was way off apparently. At the same time I had the front pads changed. Dove the car out gained some speed, now it veers to the right when wheel is centred. I retuned to the Rapid Fit centre yesterday where they swapped front wheels with back wheel and did the tracking again.
