Ford Focus 1.6tdci - Ford Focus 1.6tdci oil level increasing 11 Feb 2015 (Forum)
The oil level in my 2009 1.6tdci focus is increasing. I have to change the oil every two weeks to save the engine!! The coolant level doesn't change and the oil isn't murky when I change it so I'm sure it's not water. I've had the injectors reconditioned and the injector seals replaced. The mechanic did a compression test and said the engine was at approx 80%. -

Ever had a water pump impellor fail? 3 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Previously I could/did on occasions, drive with foot buried in the carpet and it would not move from just under 90C. It's had a new radiator, 2 thermostats, 3 coolant changes, and the pump itself is only 2 years old. Currently I have cut slots in the thermostat surround to allow more flow and that keeps things reasonable. I had to do 90 to get the temp to start rising, and it took longer. -
Ford Fiesta Saloon - Heater problems/blowing cold 26 Jan 2014 (Forum)
A few weeks back there was oil in the header tank; the oil cooler was leaking (pin hole, but what a leak !) so I changed that; I had the system flushed and new coolant put in. But now, the heater is just blowing cold air ( thought it was air locked at first but no) . I took car to the garage, says radiator is full of oil, tried to flush it best he could but still blowing cold. -
Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDi 2004 - Thermostat or Radiator issue 8 May 2010 (Forum)
I recently had a leaking hose repaired by the AA after my coolant warning light came on. He also told me that my radiator was staying cold even after several minutes' revving the engine at 2000rpm. The temperature gauge reaches normal and stays there (I've never noticed it above normal in 2 years' ownership) so I don't think the sensor is an issue. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 98 1.25 NEW Heater Valve, only cold air? 9 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Anyway, since the hot air has packed up again, I only have cold air and the part is brand new. SURELY it CAN'T be the new part? The coolant level is fine, though I think the thermostat is abit dodgy. The engine temp gauge used to be right in the middle but now it's usually under half or just over.. Phil -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 05 1.6 Oil pressure light 29 Jan 2010 (Forum)
On latest journey after 5 miles or so the light flickers on and off, I pull over swtch off and check level, coolant for oil, oil spater exesive exhaust smoke all ok. Continue and light off then after 15 miles on and stays on. Took advice from ameture fitter to keep eye on everything. Now the light STAYS on, engine sounds fine no pinking or knocking and oil is getting to top of engine, The light is now NOT on when ignition sequence test occours but sometimes on during a journey. -
Toyota MR2 (1990 to 2000) - 91 2.0 Engine temperature in cold weather 23 Dec 2009 (Forum)
My suspicion, based on absolutely nothing, is that the sensor is reflecting the outside temperature more than engine and when I slow down and there's less/no rushing air, it goes to normal. Is my car about to blow up? Any ideas? It seems to be running fine... oil topped up, coolant at normal levels... etc. etc. Confused. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.3 Endura Engine, Petrol - Oil leaking into co 24 Jun 2009 (Forum)
It goes through oil like nobody's business. No noticeable leaks under car either. I have now started to notice oil in my coolant system. Having looked into this on other forums, it was suggested that i may have a breach in the head gasket. This as since been changed but the problem remains, and although the gasket was very old, there was no obvious breach. -
Toyota Aygo (2005 - ) - Also applies to C1 & 107 - water pump failure 27 May 2009 (Forum)
Check the header tank level - ours was just above minimum and check around the pulley areas. You are looking for bright pink staining on all pulleys from the coolant. Toyota have been excellent with us and provided a long term hire car - a Nissan Micra which is IMHO better than the Yaris I drove last week, it's just a pity it's so ugly on the outside! -
Ford Fiesta (2000 - 2002) - 01 1.3 Replacing thermostat again 7 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Going to try and replace the stat and housing without bleeding the whole system as have only recently bled and replaced the coolant. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks -
Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - 94 1.8 wont start, yet spark getting to plugs? 27 Mar 2009 (Forum)
or is there another underlying issue here thats maybe causing the plugs to short? someone has suggested it needs new TDC sensor or maybe coolant sensor, but im not convinced? any help would be appreciated? -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 971.4 Overheating problem after cambelt change 2 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Upon initial start up, I noticed a whirring noise which I suspect is the cambelt, possibly overtightened. I removed the top cambelt cover and stopped the engine after bleeding the air bubbles from coolant system. I noticed that the cambelt sprocket was extremely hot and the cambelt was also quite hot possibly through heat transfer from the sprocket. The rockercover was also very hot. I let everything cool down and removed the rocker cover. -
Volkswagen Polo III (1994 - 1999) - 1999 1.4 - jolting in higher gears 30 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hi all I hope someone can help. I recently had the radiator changed as I had noticed the coolant levels were reducing very quicky and I wad advised there was a leak in the radiator. Since then i have noticed that the car seems to be "coughing" when I am driving esp in higher gears. It feels like it is sort of jumping and it feels resisitant when I accelerate. -
Volkswagen Golf II (1983 - 1992) - 91 1.3 Power loss, fluid leak near no1 cyl. 14 Aug 2008 (Forum)
hi all, just wandering if anyone's come across my problem, i drove it last night and its was fine until suddenly the car starter jolting and when i accelerated it lacked power, but this morning it was barely ticking over, I had a look at her after work, the fuel filter was bone dry, and there was some fluid on the manifold well on the side of the one going into No1 cylinder, it doesn't seem to be petrol, could the manifold be cracked in side?, leaking coolant? the fuel pump seems to be fine i'l try fitting a one way valve to see if it helps, coluld the intake manifold be causing the poor fuel flow?and the fluid on the outside of the manifold? Any help most welcomed, thanks Kevz -
Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - 99 1.4 - 'STOP' warning light has appeared 17 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The thermometer shows nothing out of the ordinary - 90 degrees or so - but I've topped up the oil and the coolant (ie water). It seemed to help for a while but then the same thing started happening again, but intermittently. Turning on the ventilators seems to help (bizarrely) and I wonder if it's a short circuit somewhere in the engine management system? -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2004 TDCi 130 - Vapour/Haze 12 Mar 2008 (Forum)
It is "venting" a white haze or vapour through the front grille. It does not appear to be losing coolant, cooling system pressure tested OK and Ford could not find the source of the vapour query "header tank fault" after changing the header tank cap which appeaerd to improve system pressure. There is a leak on the oil pressure switch (needs changing at next service). -
Ford Mondeo 1 (1993 - 1996) - 2.0 Zetec Auto - running cold! 29 Jan 2008 (Forum)
2) Is there anything obvious that would cause this? I'm thinking maybe the thermostat is stuck open? Coolant isn't getting a chance to warm to full temperature as it is going through the rad constantly? Would the system really be able to supercool in this way, even on a motorway run or in traffic? Thanks in advance for your help!! -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1997 2.0 8V XSi - Stalling whilst cold 25 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Once the engine is at normal operating temperature it doesn't stall. I have replaced the stepper motor and engine coolant temperature sensor with new replacements. The engine fault light does come on now and again in no set pattern I have been informed it might be the MAP sensor or the oxygen sensor or even the ECU. -
Ford Dealer in USA 27 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Loose suspension ball joint $362 That would also need wheel alignment $125 Pollen filter $49 Dirty coolant $118 Brakes very low $230 so far I am thinking hmm... maybe that does need doing (except the pollen filter - for $49 I don't mind ingesting a bit of pollen!) Then "wipers are squeaky - $29". That kind of made me wonder about the other items!
