Top 10: Sat Navs 30 Aug 2016 (Forum)
You don't mention whether or not the suggested stand alone units accept third party points of interest such as a preferred speed camera databases eg Pocket GPS. It seems that whereas the older TomToms did they have phased it out on each new model whereas I believe that Garmin still have the feature. -

My wife's struggle with speed limits 1 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Mrs Nsar, despite two speed awareness courses, seems impervious to their message and just got a new NIP for 37 in a 30. I loathe sat navs as is well documented here, but which is best at warning of the location of cameras, as this seems the only way to avoid any more. Cheers -
Sat Nav Questions and Answers - Vol 9 [Read Only] 19 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Had my Tom Tom sat nav nicked and replaced it with a Binatone. I like the speed camera alert feature but can't figure out if I need to update this (suspect I have) so how do I do it? -
Speedo fixation 29 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I have found that with all these speed restrictions and cameras around that I was spending far too much time looking at the speedo trying to keep within the limits. This was seriously impairing observation and I am now trying to only glance at it quickly and concentrate on looking where I am going! -
Amber Times 5 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Having had recently to conduct what amounted to an emergency stop on a 50mph limit road to avoid going over the junction on a red (with camera !), it struck me that there should be an exact correlation between the length of the amber and the speed limit, but I am not convinced that this relationship is applied. -
Beware GATSO near Shepherd's Bush! 19 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I was in London recently and drove up the West Cross Route (A3220) dual carriageway from Shepherd's Bush to the A40 Westway doing 50 (it's a 50 limit) and got flashed by the GATSO there. So far no NIP, just wondered if anyone else had been erroneously flashed by this camera? -
Driver's Survival Handbook 1 Sep 2006 (Forum)
The advertisment makes it sound very interesting. All about how to defend yourself in cases of speed cameras. Does anybody have any feelings about it ? -
Police crackdown on insurance cheats 9 Nov 2005 (Forum)
"Uninsured drivers are to be tracked by police using camera technology, who can then seize and possibly destroy their vehicles, under new measures." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4417330.stm Now, isn't that good news? All strength to that campaign, which will catch plenty of other criminal activity too. -
Navman iCN610 sat nav 31 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Just bought one of these, and so far,I'm impressed, especially as I've downloaded the speed camera database as well. But,what I want to know,is there a way of unlocking the French map cd supplied, without an unlock key, which I have to purchase from Navman,as I'm off to France in August? -

Wrong way on the M4 25 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Another example of someone driving the wrong way on a motorway. This occurred in the rush hour and a picture was captured on a phone camera and published in the Daily M**l today. An amazing escape as the M way appeared to be busy and he was driving through between other vehicles. How do they manage to get into this situation and then just plough on? -

The silence is deafening! 23 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Where is everyone? Virtual hangovers? Fed up of speed camera rants? Incidentally, measured the fuel economy of my Audi A4 Tdi at 57.9mpg on a recent round trip to the north west of Scotland. Fully laden, crusing at 70-75mph. I used 4.55 litres to a gallon - is that right? -
Boxer - 3rd party video used for prosecution 5 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Hgv was amber/red and my van was about 1 -2 second red. His footage was on a next base camera showing time and date. It was forward facing and it filmed the van passing him on the left in the same direction ( so no driver shot) My boss says it's me but I don't remember taking that particular route on that day. -
Speeding (mostly excl cameras) Vol 45 21 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I checked my speed as i felt it was a car brak down or road works and as i passed the van, on the saide were the words 'safety camera van/,words to that effect. I know the raod was clear and noted that further down was an old peoples home - the van was place about half a mile up the road from the retirement home and had a gold course the one side and open fields the other. -
Sat Nav 4 Dec 2020 (Forum)
I just need a UK, pretty basic model. The tomtom all seem to have 3 months free speed camera updates and the garmin have life time updates. I'm not sure how much this will matter. Would welcome opinions for a novice sat naver! -
"The Joy of Motoring" BBC2 7pm 29/11 3 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Tonight at 7pm - "Tristram Hunt shows how motoring has gone from allowing us to explore the beautiful English countryside to the present day of speed cameras, congestion charges and environmental issues. Along the way, he looks at different cars through the ages that define a decade and a generation." -
Google earth - Opel Astra? 28 Apr 2009 (Forum)
http://tinyurl.com/cu9qv7 The picture on this link shows an Opel badge on the front of a Google earth camera car with a UK registration. Is it possible to buy a RHD Opel Astra? An acquaintance had an Opel Corsa, but only because he got his rellies in OZ to send him the badges. I suspect the V5 said Vauxhall. -
CCTV has its uses 8 Oct 2008 (Forum)
