Hi, my son has an 8 year old manual 1.4 Peugeot 306, and has noticed a little amount of oil on the ground overnight about the size of 3ins by 5 ins. He has looked at the engine block and it seems to be leaking at the joint of the cylinder head/engine block.

  • Toyota Aygo (2005 - ) - Toyota, Citroen or Peugeot ???? 23 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I am looking to buy my daughter a small car which must be cheap and economical. The one I think suits her best is either the Toyota Aygo; Citroen C1 or Peugeot 107. I believe these cars are more or less identical and made in the same factory but just badged differently. Can someone please offer some advice as to which would be the most sound buy ? My gut feeling is the Toyota as it would be more reliable but also costs more in the first place.
  • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 98 1.1 Starting Problem 9 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Dear forum members, My wife's 1998 Peugeot 106 has an intermittent problem which seems to baffle most mechanics. The car will start first time, and drive perfectly well. And then, for no apparant reason it refuses to start the next time it is used which is often only a few hours later.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 1.4 petrol - electrical faults 25 Jan 2008 (Forum)
i have a Peugeot 306 lx t-reg it starts ok. if it's running while parked or i'm reversing there is no problem but as soon as i drive forwards all the electrics go, the dials go up and down the led display goes haywire then the engine cuts out also now the central locking does'nt work either i tried the battery terminals they were fine, i cleaned the points on the earthwire, still no joy. it's now becoming a pain. could it be the battery itself. it does seem to die quite quickly if the car ain't running.
  • Peugeot Partner Combi (2001 - 2004) - Pugeot Partner Combi - Buying a Demonstrator 27 Nov 2007 (Forum)
My parents (early 60s) are after a car and are looking at the following: http://www.waters.co.uk/used_car_Peugeot_Partner_Combi_Estate_14706.htm They are currently driving a 10 year old 806 that they have had for 10 years. Before that it was two 505s. Obviously they are fond of Peugeots. They no longer need all the seats of 806 but still want load space and a high(ish) driving position. They have been looking at Citroen Berlingos, but this Partner looks like a good deal (Air con is a requirement).

  • Peugeot 106 Y Reg Battery warning light 24 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I have a 2001 Peugeot 106 and for some time the battery warning light has been flickering or constantly on whilst driving. I have checked the battery connections which are fine and the battery is not flat. I have checked the alternator belt and this is fine and am aware that it could be the alternator itself.
  • Peugeot 406 Engine Screech/Whine 2 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Hello, I have a 2003 peugeot 406 110 diesel and recently I have been noticing a screech/whine coming from the engine. Seems only to be when the car is warming up but can last for 30 minutes or so. I have taken it into a garage and been told it is a noisy flywheel - nothing to worry about unless I want to have it replaced for £600 to stop the noise.

  • Peugeot 306 remote key 12 Jul 2004 (Forum)
There seems little point in just putting in new batteries every few days. Questions: Is this a fault with the key I can rectify myself? If I buy another key from a Peugeot dealer does it cost an arm and a leg? (I presume a new key can be programmed to the car's sensor.) Any other thoughts gratefully considered.
  • Peugeot 406 Hdi 110 12 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I have read in the forums before that general opinion is that the timing belt should be changed soon, despite Peugeot suggesting 96k miles. In addition the clutch seems to take up at top of travel. From the Haynes manual and looking under the bonnet, both appear to be pigs to do. I have previously done both jobs on a 405 non turbo, not difficult just time consuming.

  • Intermittent Peugeot Start Failure 11 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I have a Peugeot 305 Auto which occasionally refuses to start. What I mean is I turn the key in the ignition and instead of the starter motor turning over there is a click from somewhere behind the dashboard or beneath the gear selector - difficult to tell.
  • Peugeot 306 losing power? 1 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Hi there, i hope you can help me. My peugeot 306 is causing me problems in the wet, it loses power whilst driving along and could be quite dangerous. It seems as if it is water getting into something as it tends to work itself off. Also i have trouble starting it on mornings when it has been raining and after one such morning when i did eventually get it going i now get a strange smell coming through into the cabin ( this is becoming less potent but is still there ).
  • Peugeot 206 automatics 28 Feb 2001 (Forum)
In this gear lifting off the accelerator to slow generates a considerable thump and reapplying the accelerator causes another thump, giving the impression of backlash in the transmission. After an exchange of seven letters and several months Peugeot now say that the "operation of the gear box compares with any other 206". I suspect that the problem lies with the electronics controlling the slow running as I had a similar problem with a Volvo which Volvo said was normal but the local agent cured.
