  • Renault - Traffic - 04 1.9DCi performance issues 4 Feb 2009 (Forum)
The rev limiter kicks in at 3500rpm so my operating window is so small. I've had the van on a diagnostics machine which reports no ECU problems. The turbo was also shown to be operating properly, so now I'm perplexed as to what to look for next. Once the van hits 2200rpm it starts to pull but below that its useless and pulling out on traffic can be scary.
  • Nissan Primera III (1999 - 2002) - 01 1.6-idle problem following alternator 12 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I have just given it a 15 mile run but revs still drop when pulling to a halt. Would leaving the battery disconected affected the ECU?

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u141/amazingtrade/reverse.jpg You can see a plug with a connector on the right hand side, there is four wires going into it, the only other connector I can see is to the left and is missing of the picture although you can see the wire, my dads also has this and I believe this is for the ECU? What is going on?
  • Vauxhall Astra G Diesel (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.7 problem with diesel pump ? 12 Sep 2008 (Forum)
hello all, i have just bought an astra 1.7 td gm engine that was advertised as needing a diesel pump, i bought it from someone who worked at a vauxhall main dealer and the chap said he had it checked and it was definitely the pump but he couldnt afford to do it. i bought a second hand pump and the breakers assured me that it was off a running car , i have fitted it and got it started but it runs terrible ! could the timing be out ? it does say in the manual that the ecu controls the timing but when taking the old pump off and putting the new one on i did notce that the timing sprocket is adjustable would this adjust the timing ??? any info would be much appreciated thanks carl.

  • Audi A8 (1994 - 2003) - 2001 2.8ltr Will Not Start (Sometimes) 3 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Had to abandon it today and let it go cold, thereafter started easily. (Engine code APR) Is there an ECU upgrade or fix or maybe something like a dodgy sensor that I should replace. The car is a dream to drive, but if I can't rely upon it, then its going to have to go! Any help, thoughts, ideas or indeed experiences would be great
  • Audi A4 (1996) 1.8 starting problem 17 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Yesterday it did this at my local garage (it was in for a bodywork job). I left the car with them but of course it didn't play up for them. They suspect something in the ECU, possibly related to a relay in the fuel pump which switches from 'Startup' to 'Running' mode. It's beyond their expertise. Has anyone heard of this relay? Is this a known problem? Problem seems to have started after another garage fixed a tickover problem where tickover was surging up and down between 1500 and 3000 - fix was to replace a broken emmissions hose, but I'm wondering if that episode blew something in the elctronics?

  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2004 130 TDCI Misfire Issue 26 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Hi I have a 2004/54 Mondeo TDCI 130PS, which has had a misfire/hesitant problem at 1750 to 2500 under low throttle, it has been back to the dealer a number of times and below is what they have done in the order they have done it, all under warranty. Upgraded ECU Changed Air Filter Changed Injectors Replaced EGR Replaced MAF Every time they have done some work the problem gets better but still exists, the symptoms are less frequent and less pronounced but still exist, I am getting to the end of my patience as every time they have the car it is almost a week.
  • Worst excuse from a mfr/dealer/tech 17 May 2007 (Forum)
They called me the next day, and I quote "We've been working on it all day, and managed to get around it for you this time, but if you run it out of fuel again, it'll definitely need a new ECU" Eh? Cheers DP

The guy told me the last resort is to replace the entire ECU at a cost of £900!!! Surely this must have happened before and there must be a sollution? Please help!!

With me driving it continued to cut out as on the first day. Garage told me to lock/unlock it to reset the ecu but that doesn't work for me. Shall I trade it in & get a Jap job???! • Vectra Lambda sensor - faulty ? 15 May 2006 (Forum)
It's been well serviced and has no known mechanical / electronic problems and no fault codes are stored in the ECU. At it's recent Mot it passed with CO 0.00 %vol and HC 0 ppm at lambda 1.003. The engine management light has never come on, apart from the ignition-on test. I've been told that lambda sensors are only good for 60k.
  • Golf III ABS exchange 7 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I've had to replace the ABS ECU on my Golf III VR6 and bought it (used) complete with the pump. Yesterday I removed the old one and fitted the new one in it's place. I used a pressurised bleed kit and pushed all the air out of the system, but still there the brakes are not fully working as I can feel air in the line somewhere.

i have recentley rebuilt my zetec but also with piper cams & flowing and porting and an fse power boost valve i also have had the ecu reflashed to match the mods but its a pain to start, idles irractically, and has a bad misfire after you rev it up misses on way back down to idle speed ive had the timing done abut 3 times its got new plugs gapped at 1mm, new leads, new earths, new mass air meter, new lamda sensor and new engine sensors but it still has the same problem any ideas cos its cost me a small fortune but its currently running at 160 brake with 140 torque so when it runs ok it will be well worth it ps it still does 30 to the gallon

Having become a owner 0f a 2002 laguna 1.9dc1 estate three months ago I thought all these stories about faults with Renault were exaggerated .I can confirm they are not ,some faults with the ECU warning lights Renault could not cure. I have owned many cars and you expect some problems but but Renault come top of the league never again will I utter the the name .I have bought a Primera 2004 2.2 sve diesel direct from the lease company and luckily offloaded the Laguna into the trade my contact there says I was lucky it was a diesel because he cannot find dealers who will take petrols at any price. It may have been a bad motor or I was just unlucky but judging by other posts in this forum and others I think not .Renault Laguna R.I.P.
