  • Parking Ticket - Parking on The Pavement 27 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I have just received a parking ticket for parking on the pavement, ticket states "parked with 1 or more wheels on any part of an urban road other than a carriageway (footway parking)". The road was very narrow hence the parking on the pavement & there was no parking restriction signs.

I always assumed that a parking ticket was a fine for a parking offense... hmmm... I must've been mistaken. Kostic
  • Parking Charges 17 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Is there any recourse with these companies or is it a case of being stitched and swallowing the £80 fine?
  • Parking Near University 8 May 2014 (Forum)
I say that if there are no restrictions in force or is a CPZ then as she has valid car tax, she has the right to park wherever she pleases, and that if she is given a fine or clamp that its not paid and taken to court. Does the Uni have the right to do this?
  • Drop Off On A Bus Stop, camera N.I.P 31 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Advice required please: My mother in law recently dropped myself & 2 8 yo kids outside Hounslow East train station, on a bus stop: You know the score, following the bus, bus pulls away,  belts off in anticipation, we drive in, hop out , driver pulls away 10 seconds max, no one inconvenienced, everyone happy.............Except........... she has just received a parking fine with photo for parking on a bus stop. She has paid the fine as she has just appealed against another ticket (and won) because the ticketing officer didn't see the ticket stuck to her windscreen.
  • Snowmobile in Warwick! 7 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I read that a Swedish farmer has received a parking fine from Warwick. Unfortunately, the vehicle alleged to have been parked illegally is his snowmobile, which has been parked in his barn since last winter... Reminds me of the local farmer who received a speeding fine for his 35 yr old John Deere tractor!
  • meter maids... 25 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Was wandering around town yesterday, and saw a UK plated R-reg Range Rover parked at a meter, which had been ticketed. For the R60 fine (4 quid to you!) is it going to be worth the hassle for the Traffic Department to trace said driver if he doesn't pay? On the next corner, parked across a pedestrian crossing, was an old Durban-registered Golf, with a ticket stuck to the window.

I have an annual car parking permit for my cars at our local train station (from April 12 to April 13.  A week ago I got a "Parking Contravention Charge Notice" stating "No Valid payment". with the usual threats of £75 fine or £50 if within 14 days, othewise they will contact DVLA blah blah blah.
  • Friend sort of wrongly given parking ticket 24 Apr 2009 (Forum)
He parked in a car park but bought a ticket but left the sunroof slightly open, the wind must have blown the ticket of the dashboard. When he got to the car the ticket was on the drivers seat and not the windscreen.
  • Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 02 1.9tdi PD130 starting problems when parked 29 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Had the car from new, estate sport, 110k miles, last 2 years had problems starting when parked nose up ( only a few inches and progressively getting worse ), turns over fine after several mins cranking it starts, runs rough, feels like fuel starvation, fine after 10 seconds of running. ( has worn the starter motor out over time ) When parked nose down starts perfect every time. since problem fuel filter and fuel pipe to PD pump changed ( Known rubbing point under the main air intake tube at the back of the head ) Can not find any air or fuel leaks.
  • Impounding law? 5 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I parked my car in front of my house in Nottingham last night, where a one hour stay policy is in use. I woke up this morning at 11am to find my car had been towed away! I have to admit that I have had about 14 tickets for parking my car on that same spot, but being on foreign plates I thought I would never receive the fines back home (which is still the case).
  • Parking in Portsmouth? 19 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Will we be fining people who can't park straight?" A neigbour of mine got a ticket for parking 6" over the edge of marked bay (although it seems to be OK to park partly over the pavement) and an Edinburgh friend for only 2", the streets being wide in both cases.
  • HJ- Daily Telegraph, Ealing Parking Fines 5 Jun 2008 (Forum)
There used to be a station car park where you could pull in to, but this has now been closed as far as I am aware. HJ, you mentioned a website that was worth a look to see whether the fine could be challenged, and unfortunately I have been unable to find the paper to find that website.
  • Don't park in front of my drive! 9 Jan 2009 (Forum)

  • Parking Fine - worth appealing? 4 Dec 2005 (Forum)
    c) Should I just say, sod it and pay up? (And of course, send a Mr Angry letter with the cheque questioning the parentage of the Bath Parking Services representations Officer!) If I do appeal, it?s not so much the £30, it?s a matter of principle ? I paid for 2.8 hours but only used 2.5 yet they want to fine me. Your opinions please (if you can be bothered!!!)
  • All - speeding and parking 26 Aug 2018 (Forum)
2008/9 697,000 parking fines, 2018 expected 6.4 million, private firms seeking details from DVLA apparently and catching people who use supermarkets, motorway services etc. Chief consatble of Birmingham wants to get rid of the 10% plus 2 mph leeway on speeding activation and bring the leeway down to almost nothing.
  • Please endorse my licence 12 Jan 2004 (Forum)
A zebra crossing has just been installed in a nearby road (a vanity project by the town mayor). The residents of nearby houses are continuing to park where they alsways have, except that they are now parked on top of the zigzag lines. How long before there is a letter to the local paper moaning about how not only have they been fined, but have been given points on their licence.
  • Ford Focus 1.6 Petrol 02 plate - Poor connection on fuel pump 7 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I've had an intermittent starting fault for a few weeks now. The history: 1 month ago started fine, went to work, parked up for a few hours, went back to car, wouldn't start. AA managed to bump start it out of the multi story car a park then diagnosed battery required replacing. Replaced battery same day, all seemed fine for a further 2 weeks.
