  • Renaults imported from Cyprus 3 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Has any one had any recent experience of Renault Scenics imported from Cyprus and their specs compared to uk. I am in the market for a Renault Scenic 1.9dci 120 dynamique and am looking at Motorpoint in Derby who import these cars from Cyprus (new delivery miles).
  • Registration date for imported cars 6 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I am hoping that export plate registration does not matter, and that given that it is a new car, it is the date of physical import, or paying of VAT, that matters. Many thanks.
  • Pre-registered Imports 19 Feb 2001 (Forum)
With insurance and an additional warranty the Trade-Sales price would be between £7199 and £7299. The salesman said that the ECUs of imports needed to be translated by the diagnostics machine, adding delays and extra costs to the servicing. The salesman also said that the value of imports would be thousands less than a UK-sourced Ka.

  • Jap imports 8 Oct 2023 (Forum)
Also once the IVA test has been completed does this note onto the new UK logbook that the car is now an import?   Do these cars loose much value as they are imported?
  • Import Myth... 4 Nov 2003 (Forum)
So after 4 years the car kept 55% of its original value. The buyer was aware that the car was an import and they couldn't care less anyway: it was the spec and full VW history that was important to them. So I would like to extend a warm 'Thank You' to Volkswagen UK for distorting the price of thier UK-supplied cars to the benefit of those who imported them from the continent.
  • Buying Renualt Megane Import or UK Spec 9 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Would I be better going for the import and buying additional warranty how much wolud this be or going via the traditional route? The main uk dealer indicated that I would have problems with resale and getting insurance on an import but is this just a ruse.
  • Main Dealer Stamps - How important? 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
But I've read that corrosion warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on. So again, how important is this?
  • Importing a Skyline from Japan 28 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I am toying with the idea of importing a Nissan Skyline from Japan - probably around 7-8 year old example. Has anyone done a self-import? I would be interested in first-hand accounts. I've found a company on the web (www.autoadvan.co.uk) - seem to be based in Leicester - who will act as an auction agent in Japan for a few hundred pounds.
  • Import Delica vs Estima... 2 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Hi, Have the following: * 4 large growing kids * Need to do long journeys, not short ones, in comfort with more luggage than a Sharan/Alhambra etc can cope with Budget £6000 - £7000 Seriously considering the following: * Mitsubishi Delica 4x4 TD 2.8 diesel * Toyota Lucida 2.2 TD Estima Does anyone out there own one/ have any experience of the running costs, maintenance and what to look out for when buying? Is buying from an import auction to dodgy (am happy with auction buying), or is it best to buy from an importer? Is the Delica really as thirsty on a run as I think it might be?! Want a 96 P with 30k if poss. Any suggestions?
  • Should I diclose my car is an import? 14 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I've got a dilema! - I have an imported Focus, but the reg doc shows "new at first registration". The only give away is my Service Book which shows where the car originally came from (Belgium) The car is 100% UK spec I've been offered a reasonable trade in figure against a new car at my local dealer, who gave the price without asking if it was an import or even going out to check the car over.
  • Imported vehicles 4 Oct 2009 (Forum)
An imported car from Ireland, pre reg on 01/09/09 - on the road price sub 18500 quid. Saving of aprox 9k rrp, but real saving about 5k as local dealers will give a 5k discount. It's ready for a right hand drive country.
  • Importing a Toyota Camry Gold 25 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I am considering importing a Toyota Camry Gold (1995 onwards) from America. Where can I find more information about doing this and the prices of these types of vehicles. Could anyone give details of a website that deals with these vehicles or who can obtain one.
  • Grey import dealers in trouble again 29 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Looks like grey import dealers might be in trouble with the manufacturers again. Mitsubishi GB and Toyota GB are taking action against UK dealers selling new pickups originally destined for the Thai market. Manufacturers are always such great proponents of globalisation - so long as it works in their favour....
  • uk armed services imported cars 11 Feb 2001 (Forum)
John I have just started looking for a Fiat Coupe 20V turbo and 2 cars I rang up this week were either being sold by UK army/RAF people or the previous owner was army/RAF and the cars had been imported with the obvious tax savings. Are these cars as good as UK supply cars and providing they are HPI clear are the values unaffected? IM
