• BMW - What are BMW thinking 21 Feb 2020 (Forum)
  As per the title. My God BMW are designing ever increasingly ugly vehicles.  The grills on these things are humugus one could possibly describe them a goping. I used to like BMW's I've had a few of them  a 1986 325i saloon was my first then 2 1991 325i saloons then my favourite of all a 1993 325i convertible.

  I cannot turn the Allen key to close it manually, so I am now looking for a professional to solve it. Trouble is, I live in North Wales and BMW specialists are few and far between. Can anyone either give me a simple solution I can try myself, or direct me to a local BMW expert please?  Otherwise I am restricted to using it on dry days only and we don't get many of those over here.

  I am looking to buy a BMW 318d privatly, this is from 2007 but a quick google of that car suggests BMW had a LOT of problems with breaking timing chains which were costly to repair. I know very little about cars and I don't understand how much of a risk this would be, but I also am in need of something and that's local and the price fits the bill.

  My question relates to the above very sensible advice from HJ, is BMW aware of this issue, if so why no change to advice or service schedule. Are BMW only bothered about reliability during the warranty period or the first say 100 miles. Do BMW not care about their long tem reputation, amongst the 2nd and third owners.

  Do BMW do a 4wd version of any of their saloons or estates, not counting the X3 or X5. As I have seen 2 or 3 BMWs with an X at the end. One of these was an old 7 series, L reg and it was right hand drive and the other was a 5-series estate, also right hand drive.

  Well, after two years and 33k miles on my BMW G31 540i,  I need new tyres.  The old ones are run flats, don't like them dont do much for the ride when cold.  Anyone ditched runflats on their Beemer? 1/ Did you replace them with reinforced tyres?

  Hello, late last year l bought a 2003 BMW 2.5 Z4, as a fun car. Haven't used it a great deal, due to the weather etc, though will when it improves. Its kept garaged & as its not used we leave the hand break off & use chocks. Talking with a mechanic, he recommended premium fuel which, he said, would help with this engine when left standing.

  The test of the BMW 518 got me thinking, its hardly any more expensive than an equivalently spec VW passat or even a top of the range Skoda Superb. Its also little more expensive than their own 3 series. could it in fact be a better buy than any of the VW group cars above as its likely to depreciate much less ...
• 2008 BMW 520d Touring Manual - BMW E61 manual gearbox oil seal leaks 27 Sep 2013 (Forum)
  The main output shaft and selector shaft oil seals have been leaking and have been replaced by the main dealer. The car has covered 61,500 miles and has full BMW service history. This seems a very short life for the seals. Am I being unreasonable to expect much longer life in a quality car?

  Saw an E reg BMW 325i in a car park recently, in good nick. I think the 325i was a the top end of the 3-series performance-wise. Its tyres were R14, and 60 profile. Forgot to check the width, but looked like today's London cabs, I'd guess about 195.

  I'm thinking of buying a new car and currently looking at a 1 series BMW. After doing some research I came across a forum where I was shocked to see some CCTV of a £43k BMW beng stolen with ease. By the way this is not a dig a BMW because it seems that many major brands can be easily stolen in a similar way.

  Hi, I'm hoping some of your knowledgeable people will be able to offer me some advice. I'm looking at buying a 2001 BMW 320 ci convertible, it's only done a genuine 28k, and seems to be very clean. It's going for £6k which I think is reasonable. Is there anything specific I should look out for? problems that may manifest due to age rather than milage?

  HI, I started to look at Bmw 335's and noticed that there are a large number of them for sale, and looking at honest john auction seem to be going through the auctions quite low. I assum then that would you expect that the price of these cars to drop in value, as you talking £13-15k for a 3 to 4 year old car?

  My 1st post here bear with me pls. I have a BMW e46 330i with a faulty gearbox, I found an ultra low mileage gearbox from an e46 325i. gearbox code is A5s325z-TU for the 330i and A5s325z-TW for the 325i. The same apply to the e39 530i and 525i. My question is can I use the 325i auto gearbox in my 330i?

  So at the end of the week I will be driving London to Tuscany! I have a choice of of 2003 BMW 320d estate or a 2004 VW Polo 1.9 diesel. Any idea on which one will be the most fuel efficient? I will be in no rush, so 65mph will be fine. All motorway but will be quite heavily loaded with holiday gear.
