Do BMW do a 4wd version of any of their saloons or estates, not counting the X3 or X5. As I have seen 2 or 3 BMWs with an X at the end. One of these was an old 7 series, L reg and it was right hand drive and the other was a 5-series estate, also right hand drive.

I remember once selling (IIRC !) an E34 with 4WD.
|
They certainly make them - my brother-in-law, who lives in the US, has a 4wd 3 series. I believe it does have an 'x' in the model name. Not sure they sell them this side of the ocean though (maybe imports).

Yes, they did. There was certainly an E30 model 3 series designated 325iX, and I believe 5 series of the same vintage. I've seen RHD and LHD models of both, but not for a good while. Not seen a 7 series though.

325iX and 525iX are all I know of.
|
Whilst we only got the 325ix and the 525ix i think there were other versions available on the continent.
About a week or so ago i saw a very tidy 525iX up for sale at a local dealer. I was almost tempted.....

The E34 ....Four wheel drive was even available in the shape of 525iX saloons and tourings using the same system as the E30 325iX.
Certainly lots of 525iX from Google.

Same with Merc, you can get E and S-Class "4matic" models in North America and the continent.
|
4matic E-class (W124) were available in the UK, but not terribly popular.
|
You see a lot of 330xd estates here in Germany.
We quite fancy one.
|
Many manufacturers have had 4WD models from the late 80's on that they did not convert to right hand drive.
