2008 BMW 520d Touring Manual - BMW E61 manual gearbox oil seal leaks - David 48

The main output shaft and selector shaft oil seals have been leaking and have been replaced by the main dealer. The car has covered 61,500 miles and has full BMW service history. This seems a very short life for the seals. Am I being unreasonable to expect much longer life in a quality car?

No your not being unreasonable,I and my son have a few BMWs hes the one with the money these days his newish 2012 330 Alpina is always in the agents my 2000 520 is the exact opposite.

Bmws are built no different to any other car and they cost a lot of money in the UK for perceived snobbery if you need a workhorse buy a Ford Mondeo.
