  Typically with a company car offer is insurance for personal usage included? When they say I'd be responsible for my personal mileage is this usually just fuel? 2. Fuel. The offer is that I would purchase all the fuel and recharge the employer for the business mileage @ £0.14/mile. Firstly, as this is above the 11p advisory fuel rate for this cc engine, can anyone advise the tax implication to me?

  I have just sold the worst diesel car I have owned. The main reasons were the performance and fuel economy. It was a 3 year old Renault Scenic 1.9DCI owned from new and it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. It had 105 hp (some of those horses must have been dead) and managed low 40s on a run and about 35-37mpg tootling around.

  Failed Latvian equivalent of the MOT today :-( I'd already installed a new air filter but it failed emissions and has excess black smoke when tested (ie, revved up high when being tested). I'm not a diesel specialist (what, no ht leads, distributor and plugs !! :-) Question is, what else can cause (I assume) unburnt diesel fuel ? I assume that's what the black smoke and failed emissions represents ?

  Bought it with 40,000, heading for 60,000 miles now and the recent MOT had a few advisories, not to mention the upcoming cambelt change.  Thinking of trading it for a diesel one, maybe 2005 or 2006 if we can get a good price for ours. Just have a few questions about the diesels. Is there a whole lot of difference between the 2.0 and the 1.6 HDi engines? In terms of performance and economy.

  Last weekend I was staying in a hotel where Bud was £3.50/pint or over £6.00/ltr. So I spent more on three pints a night than on diesel getting the family there and back, a 250 mile round trip. Makes fuel seem fairly good value.

  Can't help thinking the amount of depreciation of the diesels will outweigh the savings to be made on fuel. The more I think of it the more sense the 944 starts to make or am I being stupid? If anyone can point out any flaws in my logic then please let me know before I take the plunge.

  Help and/or advice please. Nne month out of warranty my partner's SAAB 9-3 2.2 turbo diesel is proving reluctant to start, first time anyway. I think it is the same engine as in the 2.2 Frontera. At UK temperatures we never see the diesel glow plug light - I think the plugs only operate at very low temperatures.

  Its just as if whatever injection trickery they fitted electronically to cancel the noise that Direct injection diesels make has been teporarily turned off ! Has anyone heard of this problem ?

  .Second post-injection injects fuel late in the power stroke cycle; fuel partly combusts in the cylinder but also sweeps down the exhaust where unburned fuel triggers an exothermal event in the catalyst, raising the filters temperature further.

  I have done following things so far in the hope to fix the issue but no luck: Changed Fuel Filter Cleaned EGR volve Added REDEX diesel additive into fuel tank No visible fuel leakage near fuel injectors or frond of the engine Can anyone please point me to right direction to where the problem might lie?

  On the strip after 2 s there is enough fuel pressure. I put up a check valve in the fuel supply and nothing. Does anyone know what could be causing this? or had a similar problem? I have changed the " temperature sensor" but nothing happed anyone know how can i solve this problem?

  Recently purchased a Ford Focus Diesel Estate (TDCi, 2008) and the other day it struggled to start, then a couple of days later it failed to start at all, it was turning over but just wouldn't catch. Called the RAC and they plugged in the diagnostics and got two error codes surrounding the fuel rail and pump, and said the pressure in the pump was very low.

  Just a general question. Took my 6 year old Focus CC turbo diesel (38000 miles) in for a service today.  I knew the brakes needed looking at (advisory on my last service) and I requested an air-con check. Service = £195, air-con check = £30.

  2004 Mondeo Diesel TDci (93000 miles)not starting. First noticed recently on cold morning. AA diagnosed glow plug problem. Had glow plugs replaced: two were open circuit, one degraded. Low fuel pressure diagnosed.

  Hi all I have been driving 4x4's over the last few winters but having to cut the fuel bill down so going back to a normal car :-( I have about £4000 to spend and want a safe, relatively economical family car - preferably a diesel. Safe being the main concern! Going back to 2wd in the ice makes me nervous so no BMW suggestions please due to the RWD lol My son is 5ft 10 so must be something quite roomy in the back - I hate small cars anyway :-D I have looked for an AWD Volvo or Audi but too pricey to get a decent one with reasonable miles and subarus are nearly all gas guzzling petrols What should I spend my hard earned cash on?

• Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - 04 2.2 Diesel - glowplug warning light problem 14 Sep 2009 (Forum)
  AA could not identify the fault, so recovered to Honda main dealer. No diagnostic code - they checked the fuel system and replaced the diesel filter (which was in back to front), checked (but did not dismantle) the exhaust / cat and then tried a replacement ECU. Nothing found - they said it was OK to drive home but the fault would recur - and it has.

  I am thinking of doing an experiment with my 99 Golf GT TDI 110bhp. I have read on various websites about running on either new or waste vegetable oil instead of diesel. I am aware of the possible starting difficulties due to the viscosity in lower temperatures and I was wondering if anyone has tried it with this type of engine. I am intending running the car until warm and then disconnecting the fuel lines.

  I have a '97 325tds touring which I'm very happy with but I'm beginning to notice a lack of power at low revs, lumpy running from cold, poor starting when hot and occasionnal the fuel injection warning light comes on and the car looses power but this rectifies itself when I lift off and re-apply the throttle. The car has done 133000 miles and had a new diesel injector pump 2 years ago at great expense, I would like to keep it for much longer.
