Winter weather brings out the idiots 1 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Saw this on the news yesterday, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-47040584 Then this morning while driving through the town of Ellon i saw a car waiting to come out on to the main road with, i would say about 80% of the windscreen (and about 100% of the remaining glass) opaque due to frost and ice. Beggars belief that folk wont spend a few extra minutes warming up the car and clearing the glass, at least enough to see where you are going!. -
Skoda Fabia - Water dripping from engine 20 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I drove about 40 miles yesterday then when I parked in a car park I noticed water dripping from under the car. It was clean water, not windscreen fluid, or dirty water or oil, it was clear and had no oder. It appeared to be coming from the back of the engine compartment, I couldn't see the exact source. -
Worst car you've ever owned.. and why 17 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I'll start it off..........1979 Rover 2600 SD1auto went well for the 2.6 (couldn't afford the insurance on a V8)..... but My God did it fall apart. Once looked in the spare wheel well and it was FULL of water. Windscreen nearly fell out, cos the rubber had perished so much; leaked like a sieve; door mirror fell off (all of it).etc,etc......... truly awful build quality. Why did i buy it? Young and naive. -
Renault Sport Spider 9 May 2003 (Forum)
Idly chatting in the pub last night, somebody mentioned the Renault Spider, the one with no windscreen. Nobody could remember the last time they'd seen one or a mention of them in the usual car magazines. I checked on Autotrader this morning and there are a total of 6 for sale nationwide, one of them only 8 miles from here. -
Adding VAT to advertised used car price 5 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hello In my naviety I'd always presumed when buying a used car, that one would pay the price marked on the windscreen, with the exception of possibly road tax etc. However, I've come across a supposedly reputable main dealer who added VAT to the price of the advertised price. -
Vauxhall Corsa c 1.2 petrol 2006 - heater matrix replacement 15 Dec 2019 (Forum)
I backflushed the matrix with a garden hose, brown water and silt came out but did not help lack of heat. Literally no heat with engine up to temp and both hoses too cold especially outlet so i guess matrix is blocked. Any other ideas welcome, thanks, mike. -

Peugeot 306 Problem2 9 Aug 2005 (Forum)
When starting from cold, there is no smoke for the first minute or so, then suddenly clouds of the stuff (greyish) come out till it's heated up. Once its heated up, the smoke stops completely again and it runs well. My first thought was the glow plugs, so I've just finished replacing them (a real pain in the butt), and the problem is still there. -

Vandals, lighter fuel, glass & paintwork 2 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Can lighter fluid have a corrosive effect on paintwork even without combusting? Another concern I have is that the fluid was thrown onto the roof of the car at the rear and set alight as it ran down over the rear windscreen (then down over the bootlid and into the wheelarch). As I said, it was extinguished within less than a minute, but I'm concerned about the effect on the glass of the rear windscreen - I know that toughened glass, if affected by fire, will shatter into hundreds of little crystals rather than big shards. -

Car choice dilemma - £5-7k 8 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Hi there, As many of you may be aware, I am not satisfied with my 1.6 TDCi 110 LX Focus, 5dr 06-reg. Having paid £9,000 I actually consider it disappointing as an all-round car (handling inferior to old model, no real equipment e.g. computer, heated front screen, alloys etc, and the interior is a let down, feeling cheaper in areas than the old Focus), and I really need about £2,000 for other personal uses, so I have decided to sell the car. -
Paper tax discs 4 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Apparently the demise of the old paper tax disc has cost millions of pounds with people forgetting even though there are plenty of reminders around. Seeing the date on the disc on your windscreen was a constant reminder and difficult to ignore. -
Iced up washer bottle 22 Dec 2002 (Forum)

Preserving cv gaiters (any fwd car) 13 May 2004 (Forum)
CV gaiters seem to get stiff and 'dried out' in time due to heat, light and general exposure to the elements. They then crack or split. I'm trying to preserve mine by regularly spraying the gaiters with a rubber/nylon lubricant aerosol. I wonder if other members have tried similar preventative measures? -
