Hiring a car in Belfast, driving in to ROI 3 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Anyone have any experience of this? What about hiring a car in Europe mainland and driving say from France in to Spain, how does it work. Guy -
Citroen C8 MPV (2003 - ) - 03 2.2 rear indicator bulb 9 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Before I go to France later this year I would like to get a spare indicator bulb for the rear indicator. It's not a normal 21w bulb, last time I looked it was akin to a miniature H1 headlamp bulb. I remember asking for a spare when I bought the car but was told it was a special long-life bulb and unlikely to need replacement. -
Your planning re possible fuel shortage next week 24 Apr 2008 (Forum)

Peugeot 607 (2000 - ) - 2004 2.2 HDi Particulate filter servicing 13 Apr 2008 (Forum)
The 'filter clogged' warning light comes on from time to time and he naturally wants to sort it out. He lives in France but is frequently in the UK and he has been quoted 600 pounds Sterling by a UK Peugeot dealer to replace the filter and top up the required fluid. Is it always necessarily to replace the filter and is this price reasonable? -
Buying LHD cars 24 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Does anybody know the best places to buy Left Hand Drive cars please? Are they cheaper/better in the UK or would France/Germany/Belgium be better. I am looking for a car to use in Poland hwere my wife has connections and car hire is expensive a late Mark2 or early Mark3 Mondeo estate would be the sort of thing I would be looking for but would consider something like an Espace. -
MPV's French/Italian or German? 28 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Comments on the French engines would also be welcome. Will be carrying 2 children +dogs or lots of children and doing runs to France a couple of times a year (cheap french servicing?) thanks -
Getting across the Channel 6 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I'm considering doing a Blighty run from France for the first time in quite a while. I want to avoid the Channel Pirates if I can but a western crossing would suit me, so - does anyone have any recent experience of the ferry that replaced P and O on the Portsmouth-Le Havre route? -
MGF Trophy V TF 160 3 Jun 2007 (Forum)
One last spanner in the works, it will be used to tour europe next summer, going through Italy, south of France and back, possible Nurburgring! (route not confirmed but lots of mountain passes and a trip to Cannes and Monaco are definate!) Any options that are a must have? Leather is really the only definate at the moment Unfortunately an MG is a bit of an obsession and as good as an MX5 is, the MG is the the only badge option! -
Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe 24 May 2007 (Forum)
The mere fact that it exists should be celebrated. I can just picture myself wafting down to the south of France in one before boarding my luxury yacht, vodka martini in hand (shaken not stired), leggy blonde in my arm .... WAKE UP!! Yes I'm sure the ethics of it could be criticised, but this car is a pure work of art (headlights aside). -
97 Peugeot 406 1.8 gearbox problem 27 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Today I have just travelled 650 miles from the south of france in 4th gear because I lost 5th gear. The problem developed relatively qucikly and I first noticed something was wrong when it crunched a couple of times putting it in 5th. The third time it made a terrible grumbling noise and popped out of gear completly. -

Citroen EGS Gearbox 11 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Either way, you don't suffer the loss of inherent in conventional auto 'box torque converters, nor suffer the whines inherent in a CVT. I see that in France you can get the C1/107/Aygo with an automated manual box. Why not here - it's the perfect 'box for city driving. -
New car for me 22 Nov 2006 (Forum)
My needs: 2.0 litre petrol 130bhp+ 5 doors Leather seats and aircon/climate Alloys Slippery winter trips to France need front wheel drive. Not too big, Focus rather than Mondeo class. I only do 9K a year, so not really bothered about MPG, as long as it's not excessive. No more diesels, 'er indoors gets my car. -

Fiat Barchetta 1998: Noisy engine! 27 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I know that the 1.8 16V Barchetta engine from 1997-1999 suffers from dodgy VVT components which can make it sound like a diesel - mine, unfortunately,... -
Fiesta 1.25 LX 96 Starter motor. 31 Dec 2005 (Forum)
failure point, I thought that the solenoid actuator also acted as the 'starter relay' in switching the current for the starter motor. Is the design on this engine different? Access appears very poor. PS I am in France, the BoL (Haynes) is needless to say in the UK. The temperature is just on freezing, the nearest Ford dealer (who is v good) is closed until next week! Any ideas please. I need to get some food to survive the long weekend. -
2002 MB C Sports Coupe: F Susp noise 21 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Hi, Sorry for the abbreviation above but I couldn't get evcerything in the heading. I've owned my C220Cdi Sports Coupe since new in July 2002. Last year on holiday in France I noticed that there was a squeaking noise which appears to come from the front suspension when the car goes over some (not all) bumps. It isn't very loud (well below normal radio level) but is annoying once you spot it. -
Order timescales for Audi 28 Feb 2005 (Forum)
They tell me that the other 4 cars ordered in the same allocation as mine are in the same position, but I never had any problem like this with the BMWs I have previously bought. I find this a bit frustrating, not least as I want the car before I go for a tour around France in the middle of May! So my questions are these - does anyone know an approximate build time for the new A6 Avant and has anyone had experience of this situation before or could it be becuase the car is not released in the UK yet? -
I have a question Volume 47 3 Jul 2004 (Forum)
All I have is a set of bank account details (probably genuine) and an address in N. London (probably incorrect). I think the scammer lived there once, but may by now be back in France (Paris area). Of course the bank will not help me. My question: can BRs suggest a way that I can get to the scammer's current address, with only the bank details to hand? It occurs to me that, should anyone have a suggestion, they may prefer to communicate with me off-board. -
Central locking funny.. 7 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Had to unlock manually afterwards too. Before and since there's been no problem. This has only happened once before - oddly also in France, at Dunquerque. That time we were, er, outside another excllent restaurant. The point is we were parked under HT lines, which I thought could be causing the problem that time. I could see no obvious HT lines or mobile phone masts in Boulogne, so unless these were very cleverly disguised I have no idea why this happened.
