  Hi all Could anyone please tell me how the exhaust heat shield (behind the back box, next to the nearside rear wheel arch) on my 2001 Mk3 Mondeo estate (2.0 petrol) should be held on? Mine has come loose and is rattling around. The Haynes manual doesn't seem to say anything about it.

  Gents I have a 53 zetec s 130tdci mondeo and the heater seems to be playing up. In "normal mode the heat used to come out at the feet, face and screen . It now only comes out at the screen. If you select an option on the heater control eg feet then it will blow all the heat at the feet, the same for face and screen.

  Ive got a problem with my 1.3ltr Golf heating cooling system. My heater is warm only until the thermostat opens then it goes cold. This problem is hardly noticed driveing around locally but recently I have driven to Aberdeen and back (500 miles each way) during the night and I was frrrrrrreezing!

  I have a 2004 Saab 93 Vector(auto 2.0). Today the heating air fan and air conditioning have just stopped working. Meaning no air seems to be coming out at all ! I purchased the car in June 2013 and ever since I purchased the car there has been a clicking noise that came on for 5-10 seconds after I switched off the air con or heating fan.

  We are dealing with an insurabce claim at the moment where there is a refusal to indemnify after an accident because the insurer's assessor found there were tints on the vehicle which had not been declared. The tints were perfectlly legal as the light transmission on the windscreen and front side windows was within VOSA guidelines and although the rears were heavily tinted the law says these are irrelevant. But the client had not declared them. The car is a write off in a fault claim on which the tints could not be shown to hve any bearing.

  When its is sunny I find reflections from dashboard tops and in the windscreen distracting, polaroid clip-on glasses stop these but I  remember rally cars with matt black dashboard tops which would solve the problem. Do any detailers do this mod these days?

  Last night I thought I saw an emergency vehicle in my rear-view mirror. I took a second look and it was a car with those Blue LEDs on its windscreen washers. Are LEDs classified as lights? If so quite a few peole are breaking the law.

The car is 1996 Ghia estate with aircon & sunroof.The water in question is 'clean' and not tainted with anti-freeze or windscreen washer fluid.   It was bought outright in 2010 for £7495 with  33k miles and has been reliable, with yearly servicing and just a few suspension parts and a pulley wheel replaced. It's on its original exhaust, battery, clutch etc. Yearly mileage around 7k. It's been a good car, although a horrific green colour, but it's starting to show its age.  In the next few months it's due a service and MOT. There are a few jobs that need doing; exhaust heat shield mounts at manifold have corroded ,  rear wheel bearing is very rough, suspension clonk from the front and a couple of tyres are very close to the wear indicators.

  (very distracting when night driving) I have done some investigating (fiddling!) and found if I use main beam or put heated front or rear screen on it reduces and almost stops the flickering. If I put on all three then it stops. If I turn stuff off then it gets worse and I think it then also shows up slightly in the dash illumination but very slightly.
